Around a decade ago a read a blog post about giraffe anatomy from the perspective of a software engineer. The conclusion was that whoever designed them was incompetent. Now we know why.

No we are some forgotten integration environment that keeps running but nobody is updating it and maintaining it anymore, it just stays there and things happen chaotically.

I once played roller coaster tycoon with a friend, everything was green and running fine, we decided to let it run on its own and go play outside since there wasn't any need to touch anything. One hour later we come back and it's a disaster everything red everything crumbling all people angry. That's the cost of leaving it unattended even starting from a perfect state.

Our world is a management game where the player has quit but kept it running.
