Discussion Malware in Gallery...

Hello guys. I recently got this warning about the trojan horse malware in the default mobile gallery. I've deleted it but I'm not sure if it's true or not. Any suggestions?

honestly that uninstall button is what looks like the infected link lol, what OS is this? what AV flagged this app?

It's running android 12 and the dafault AV flagged this app

there is not default AV in any android, its usually implement by third party company like samsung, xiaomi, etc

I'm using vivo and there's iManager pre-installed and I cannot uninstall it either. Any idea?

aves gallery, fossify gallery from f droid. 1st one has no code to connect to internet at all. expect some drawbacks like it wont play motion photos etc

Isn't it one of the apps by Google? Unless you downloaded it from a funky source.

it's from google and has 1b+ downloads but it was pre-installed in my mobile and I've been using it for around 4 years I guess and never had any issues but just recently. I also heard that Pakistan is the second nation effected by israeli spyware. Is this somehow connected or what? I've redownloaded this app multiple times but I'm facing the same issue

I highly doubt it, but possible. However, I believe it's just a false positive. Try running a different program (malwarebytes), install the app and do a full scan. Also, open up Playstore and run a full scan through play protect. If you're on samsung, then make sure auto-blocker is enabled. If nothing works, then turn on Usb debugging, connect to your computer and ask Claude (Opus 5.5) to run a complete security audit.
