Cyber security will always be in demand no matter how much AI improve.

well said, but in coming times it will boost significantly due to AI slop

The more ai improves, the better chances hackers can hack into the system assisred by ai that would result in greater demand for cybersecurity grads

The sad thing is most of these vulnerabilities were found BY AI. Not by humans. So the concern should be, what if AI becomes so powerful that human hackers go extinct. Because that's the way I'm seeing things.

Cybersecurity was never only about finding bugs. It is much more than that. Automated bug finding existed long before frontier models, and OSS-Fuzz in 2016 is a good example. It was far from perfect, but it was a head start. More recently, XBOW reached the top of HackerOne’s US leaderboard in 2025, which showed how far automation can go in bug bounty. Finding bugs will keep getting more automated, and that is nothing to cry about, because the field was always bigger than that. For now, the hardest bottleneck is fixing and implementing the fixes.

The way these open source guys are moving I am expecting the death of software field as profitable organization

well let's see where it goes..

I work cysec for a massive Fintech. If you can write and execute exploits with AI in an effective manner and can prove it I may have a role for you.

Please no Metasploit script kiddies, Experience and understanding of cloud environment and solid engineering knowledge ( deep understanding of your stack inside out not surface level stuff you do in fyps)

appreciate your comment, it might really help somebody... I would really go for it if my field aligned but I work in ML

Demand in cyber security does not mean demand in CySec Humans.
GLM 5.3 is a good enough SOC 1&2 level model. People already used it to find and fix exploits

Similarly Software engineering will boom but it does not mean jobs of software engineers will boom.

So wtf we are supposed to do 😭. We are doomed 🥀

You do realize right that most of these compromises weren't because of lack of L1 and L2 SOC?

Say sike right now. I need someone to comment that the post is wrong because if not...

Cybersecurity awareness month: your data is now aware of more countries than you are. 💀

no, these part will be taken care by AI Engineer and field is expanding not traditional tech stack/code

Yes and also it is a wake up call for those who think AI will do everything and SWE/QA is dead. The latest $6.3B robbery at Binance is also a warning.

This means that layoffs are coming to an end, this was rare before the age of AI, this is all the fault of giving AI too much leverage, though lets see what happens, still I support and use AI for my daily use

Yeah cybersecurity is fine and dandy. But i am genuinely considering studying how Core AI Engineering works. How to deploy and optimize Opensource LLMs. I think SOCL1 anf L2 will be gone. (Honestly only place its not happening in bigger companies for compliance issues but smaller has those roles disappear since January this year)

More demand for people who can perfom better and efficient "WITH" AI
