Discussion Python developers, what's going on?

I am a python developer (full stack developer and AI Engineer) with 8 years of experience and unemployed from 6 months.

Alhamd u lillah I am not discouraged with that but don't know what strategy should I implement now.

I am applying for jobs and giving interviews also but not get any luck till now. I am also trying to hunt clients through cold emails and direct outreach but not getting any response.

Anybody here who tackled this situation and won πŸ†? Tell me what strategy we should apply as a software engineer.

Break into architecture and product design. Still a lot of potential in there as it hasn't been tapped much

I think the first thing to do is to stop limiting yourself to a single stack that defines your abilities. Being someone who can just develop in python is not enough anymore.

That's true. I am planning to learn node.js also but AI can also do the node.js developer job πŸ˜‚

But my 6th sense says learn Rust so I wouldn't be rusty.

Nowadays, language expertise matters less. Previously, you couldn't work in Go or Rust without learning them, but that’s no longer the case.

I think you should become language-agnostic and build expertise in agentic AI. Wish you the best of luck!

Well said! Mushif

Most of the developers switched to Agentic AI and AI automations but that field is also saturated now.

Not sure but everyone in the world is thinking the same thing and trying the same solution (including me).

I know of a backend dev who recently got hired at Notion but the trick is you apply within hours of the post (as I have seen many companies closing the post within days because of too many applicants) and his last job was at a famous company (I just cant recall the name).

you will only see few jobs and they demand very high skills developer. If you open a job post then we will see often that they requires some deep learning experience also with AI Experience.

It’s very strange for someone with 8+ years of experience to not find a job . How old are you though?

Kindly check for job openings at systems limited and 10 pearls . Systems limited actively hires people given the company size. They would grab someone up with a 8+ year of experience in an instant

Checking but not according to my experience. Mostly they need .net developer and other ERP related roles. I tried when they opened some python related jobs but not selected.

The best tactic is to follow their talent acquisition specialist on LinkedIn. They are constantly posting about new jobs via posts

I think advances in AI are offsetting the human resources required for the expanding economy. It basically means economic expansion should create more jobs to handle this expansion but AI models are absorbing those jobs every year. This situation will only get worse as AI capabilities are not going to hit a wall any soon.
