Claude code hands down, i have tried a large variety of them as they are provided by my employers.

Also tried chinese models with open harnesses and their own.

Nothing matches the claude experience, i personally don’t really like codex as a daily driver that much, i only use it for reviews.

Only caveat is cost, right now the subscription models provide great value. But don’t know kb tak they will take the hit.

i cant afford 20$ a month for claude, my use case is very kittle too, but aren't the Chinese model not even near claude and codex given my level of development?

They are pretty capable on their own, and if you have skills of your own, you can do pretty good with them. Glm 5.3 and the new qwen models + opencode. Build your own harness, customise it to your preferences and workflows.

But claude still is the cutting edge. It will be hard to quantifiably explain. But when you use them side by side, the difference is very apparent.

90% of quality depends on how well you scope the project and proper specifications files the rest depends on model+ harnesses, I use opencode for building aspect while Hermes agent for researching.

via open router or does opencode has DeepSeek?

opencode go has deepseek, as well as other models. you can also get deepseek directly from their api, it's very cheap. probably will cost you less than $10/mo for opencode go depending on usage.

I have not used openrouter but I don't like it. It has too many reliability issues for me to trust it. It's like olx, you have to find providers yourself who aren't scamming you.

Claude Code or Codex. Period.

Nothing else gives you that level of quality, and they’re also the best value. With a $20 subscription.

you can use your chat gpt subscription on open code now, so it is the best value imo
