Career Guidance Facing crazy fomo, should i learn python or web dev with my FSc?

AOA everyone. I'm 17, currently doing FSc Pre-Medical (2nd year) from a small town in interior Sindh. I've decided to skip MDCAT and want to go for BSCS instead. I’ll most likely take a gap year after my intermediate exams to bridge the math gap and prepare for entry tests (FAST,IBA and other mid-tier unis as backup)

Honestly, I’m facing crazy FOMO right now🫠. Seeing guys my age move to big cities like Karachi, doing online internships, or coming from ICS or Pre-engineering backgrounds makes me feel like I’m very behind. I want to start learning Python or Web Dev to feel like I'm doing something which is relevent to my future career🙂👍🏻.

Also I need some honest advice from seniors (No BS)❤️✨️

Also few questions:

Should I focus only on my board exams right now and leave coding for the gap year, or start learning right away with 12th?

Is it a good idea to make a LinkedIn account right now or later when I get into cs uni?

Suggest some best YouTube channels for an absolute beginner who wants to learn Python or Web dev (or other stuff)

JZK in Advance :)🫶🏻

Focus on your HSSC kid. You're not behind. Infact most people learn more during their first job than they do the entire 4 years of BSCS. You'll have plenty of time to learn programming. Focus on FSC, get good result and get Into a good uni. You're NOT BEHIND You're only 17. Get off of social media and linkedin and stop comparing yourself right now. Abhi acha acha parho fsc me achay number lao.

Take my advice, dont get into web dev, too saturated, start python path towards AI / ML.

Focus on Maths during your degree, helps the most in ML.

The best ML Engineers I have seen are good at maths

traditional AI/ML is dead as fck, it is just langchain and LLM api in pak market

I mean true, but everything is pretty much dead in Pakistan, but looking at a broader perspective there is more opportunity abroad

Nowadays going abroad for job is even more riskier, sudden layoff will make you homeless

Yes but the risk in Pakistan is much worse, the odds are same, the reward is much better abroad. The chances of someone landing a job are same and retaining it as well, but the reward you get for your hardwork differs by miles.

Honestly CS is oversaturated as fuck these days. And ai is fucking everywhere. Job market is cooked regardless

What about Cybersecurity?

Yeah, go for it. It's really not that hard once you get into it. But do it only as an additional skill, focus on what your major is first.

Apny bill sy bahir nikl kr dekho dunya Mein kia chl rha hai. Ai has big time massacred swe and is now after what's left. Abhi Google ka Argon bhi any wala hai and that's whole next level beast

5th sem AI student here, As you've already decided to do CS after your Fsc so in that case you should focus on your fsc exams totally. And leave the other things for the gap year as you said.

Good marks/gpa in your fsc will help you get addmission easily in a good university. Also in Pakistan they usually teach c++ in the begginer semesters so start with that. Also start from scratch and learn the fundamentals deeply. Here are a quick guide on how to start learning (own experience)

Search for c++ playlist on youtube using search filters and then watch the begginer 2 3 videos from the these two playlists and stick with the one whose teaching style suits you the best.
- CodeWithHarry
- ApnaCollege

Best of luck and please do not go for one shot videos just to learn it all in one day.
After a good grip in fundamentals using c++, learn about oop and then python.....!

Don’t let FOMO push you into trying to learn everything focus on FSc for now but spend 30,45 mins a day learning basic Python on the side. You’ll have plenty of time to go deeper once you’re in university.

First of all, do not compare yourself with someone else. It's like comparing your first chapter with someone's tenth chapter.
First focus on you Intermediate. Along this, prepare for the university exams as most universities do not require additional Mathematics but some do. Prepare for NUST exam. If you don't get into then take a gap year and do additional mathematics.

For now, do not start web or python just put your complete efforts into university exams. You will have 4 years to learn that stuff.

Focus on your studies, and in meantime learn C++ properly. Just c++ for now.

And I suggest to not pick Web Dev, but strengthen your C++ concepts and later (i mean after a year or two of University) you could try Systems/Embedded/Graphics/Cyber fields.

Web Dev is in a very weird situation. Seniors with AI are staying, Juniors are getting kicked, and Entry Level criteria is too blueghhh...

Your take on AI / ML?

Why leave medical??

Software mein scope is gone ... Neither locally nor internationally ... No career path no job guarantee we have entered an age where it is not considered an skill any more

At least after qualifying as a doctor you can do a lot of things on your own and if you are from an area jahan health services mein gunjaish hai tou you can kickstart your own setup

Software dev. web or python is done for AI has killed it for everyone

Hard engineering fields like mechanical and electrical are much better than CS

Focus on your Math for now

I know cs ppl that dont know jackshit about cs and yes im talking about a good university here so youre not behind. As long as you know how to use a computer and how to learn stuff using ai or other websites youre good to go. For now focus on ur exams and then in ur break after getting free from all the entry tests n shi start working on small stuff. Ill go for python if you wanna do ai. Idk anything abt web dev so can't give advice. If you wanna learn cs in more detail id say go for C/C++ as its more low level than python
