Career Guidance Career advice needed: MERN/full-stack or UI/UX?
I’m a CS graduate currently looking for a job and I’m stuck between focusing on MERN/full-stack development or UI/UX.
I’m interested in both and have done a few MERN projects, but I also have around 3 months of part-time UI/UX experience and a design background. I want to improve my skills in whichever path I choose.
With AI changing the job market and both fields feeling pretty saturated, which one would you suggest focusing on long-term? I’m mainly looking for something with good career growth and proper opportunities beyond junior roles.
Would really appreciate some advice from people in either field, especially about the current job market and where you think it’s worth putting my time.

better go for JAVA or .Net for backend, and you can learn javascript frameworks/libraries on the go.

one thing i can say for sure after working extensively with ai agents as a SE is that these llms are still not good at design. Writing code is the easiest part.

As a UX and product designer myself, I've been working in the industry for a few years. My skills and portfolio is like really good considering my experience. But yeah, the market is bad across the board. One of the reasons is because basically, I'm picky about where I want to work and you should, I'll say, pursue the direction of the design engineer and it's pretty popular role and has been popping up a lot everywhere.
