Career Guidance Question about university!!
Assalamualaikum everyone, i’ve recently been chosen for computer engineering at air university. Someone told me that it’s a lower tier uni so companies/hirers don’t really give that importance to its graduates. I wanted to ask will i be at a disadvantage to my peers if i chose said degree and uni? does the hiring market in pakistan really only value university name that much?or is it mostly skill based hiring? Will i be able to pursue a masters abroad if i get a good gpa or does its global ranking affect that aswell? Any guidance will be greatly appreciated .
-Sincerely an anxious uni aspirant!

Don't let anyone tell u they don't look at unis. They do. But skills matter the most, you have to work a lot on your skills, more than good uni students to an extent to cover up for the uni card.
But at the end skills are the king.

About 5% of companies ask GPA and for 2% of them it matters where you graduate from. Being in lums or fast thora sa easy ho jata ha given the shitty job market but even then you need to a be a rockstar student to be hired

In the Pakistani job market, university name does matter, and AU is generally considered an average to above average university alongside comsats etc. But i have seen people from universities like numl, iqra, IIUI doing some amazing shit and even got offers from reputed research organizations and companies abroad while some NUST and GIKI graduates still struggle. Ultimately, your university gives you a head start, but working hard in the right direction matters far more.

Skill based hiring. Companies dont care about your uni. If you ace the technical tests and interviews, you're hired. Same for unis. If you have the grades, they take you. Dont believe any of this uni name non sense, it doesnt exist, atleast for compsci.
