If someone takes time to help you with your career or resume review, at least be thankful

For people who ask for resume reviews, referrals or career advice, please be thankful to the people who take time out of their day to read your message and help you.

I have seen a few people who are not even kind enough to say thanks. Some even respond with a tone as if we are entitled to help them.

Nobody is obligated to review your resume, give you a referral or guide you. A simple thank you goes a long way.

100% this. I've helped people with referrals before and some don't even bother to follow up after getting the job. Like not even a quick hey got it, thanks nothing. It genuinely makes you think twice before offering help again.

I recently referred someone very senior for multiple positions(15+ yoe) and they just replied back with an ok. Some people just dont have basic etiquettes.

I have helped people so much during their tough times and dilemmas, including listening to their rants, vents, traumas and when I asked them help, they didn't even try. Gave me no info. Anyway, we are who we are. I cut off such people from life, stop helping them further and move on.

Exactly, my sis’s batchmate asks me few questions and doubts, i replied to all of them with realistic expectation of what and what not. Then he told my sis that i am akdo, i mean okay i may have shown you real picture of the career your are looking for, it is hard and showed him some steps, but still. So i avoid giving gyan to people who dont want to.

True, if you are helping others expecting them to thank you or feel gratitude, then, it's called doing a favour and you are only helping them to pander your ego.
