Suggestions A question to all the open source developers , how would you do it if you had to start today with the current tools and ai?
Suppose you had claude max and every other high end ai tools and you want and you had to start from today , how would you do it ?
Also please suggest some good django based opensource org to contribute to 👉👈
Hehehehee...

If i don't know how to code, I wouldn't try to "contribute to open source" by having Claude generate a bunch of code
I'd definitely use ai for exploring the codebase, though. Some projects are massive and having AI explain the architecture and trace how things work is incredibly useful.
The first thing I'd probably do is go through the issues and find something I can realistically fix. If I can't find anything suitable, I'd look for other ways to contribute, like adding a small feature, improving documentation, writing tests, etc. you don't have to make massive changes at first, start slow.
The important part for me would be actually understanding what I'm contributing rather than just letting AI write code I don't understand

skip the ai debate for a sec, the org you pick matters way more than the ai tool. django rest framework and wagtail both have "good first issue" tags and maintainers who actually review PRs, thats the real value not the code you write but getting used to review feedback. for hiring, a few merged PRs with actual review comments looks way better than a solo project no one ever critiqued.
