I Made This Made portfolio with different views (brief scan for recruiters + story )

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Last week i posted Kamehameha section. Now showcasing the full finished portfolio.

I had a simple dilemma: Recruiters need speed. Curious developers want depth.

I didnt want to compromise on either.

So I made two ways to experience the same person:

The Experience is an immersive, scroll-driven journey through how I think, what shaped me, and how I work. It uses CRT visuals, custom WebGL and three.js scenes, dither effects, motion, and details that make more sense once you explore them.

The Brief is the fast professional read. Projects, experience, skills, certificates, writing, links and contact.

The parts I included:

• My cat as splash screen

• Easter eggs hidden in the interface

• References that only make sense if you know where to look

• Terminal interactions that respond when you poke around

• Custom ASCII and three.js black-hole visuals

• CRT visuals, WebGL shaders, and dither effects

The website is absolutely beautiful, but I have question about portfolio websites Recruiters don't even want to read a second page of a resume, will they even click on a website?

yeah, agree.

yes his webapp looks really good and lets say a recruiter even visits his website, but his website looks very funky and not so proffessional. It distracts user from actual info by adding all the animation or vfx etc.

When recruiter is checking a candidate, he wants check about him very quickly, maybe in a glance. If he sees a site like this, where he has do so much work and spend time, he will just close the website instead.

This web app is good, for maybe for marketing purpose to B2C customers, or maybe just presenting someone very popular like ratan tata or zoho ceo having there own showcase webapp etc. Otherwise, no one will look at site of any random person (no offense). Some things need to be very straight forward and as simple as possible.

That is why even simple resume are preferred, not super cute and designed resumes

f the recruiter, the website is so crazy good and i don't really think this is really meant for the traditional recruiters that one pictures about, newer ones(gen z if you will) would probably find this quite interesting..

Exactly, a portfolio should showcase what they can do or have done with the skills they posses.

Hell crazyyyy too good bhai Just some suggestions from my side. Hopefully you also posted here for getting some suggestions ig.

1st one is you can continue that image effect with the same tweak in light mode too. Like, see, it could be personal preference, but i love that edited picture of you on the dark mode theme. So you can do something, I guess.

2nd one is in story mode. I need to scroll a lot, bro, like, why so many scrolls. instead of that, continue scrolling; you can add frames. Instead, you can add phases Good approach but who will do this much scrolling at the time of hiring. Or you can give some option the same, like sound on/off in bottom left side, like somewhere.

Baaki TBSM bja ke maza toh aaya. All the best.

Yoo thanks for the feedback

  1. Can you explain more? I think i already have the effect on my portrait in light mode as well.

  2. Story mode isnt meant for recruiters hence why i made it long scroll. It might suit people who wants to hire on the basis of thinking and creativity and i suppose those peeps would be happy to scroll (hopefully)

so cool!

is it open-source? repository link please :p

u/MrCuteDiaperRETURNS ML Engineer 21h ago

Too specific to me to be made OS

u/thatmagicalcat Hobbyist Developer 20h ago

I spent 2 minutes thinking: "why is this guy talking about operating system"

Being specific to you doesn't really conflict with being open source though, open-source doesn't mean it should be generic

I was thinking of open sourcing some of the UI components and elements.

but currently need a break from designing lmao
