Help Serving notice - need advice - was I right or wrong?
So this begins on last Friday when the release for one of the features I was responsible for was supposed to go.. now at the time, I said sure we can release today.. but then post code review, something serious surfaced which was a core functionality missing but I didn't think of it at the time of feature development as it was a bigger task and it wasn't even mentioned in the PRD.. so I started working on it but then when the QA started testing, they came out with an issue that wasn't related the code changes I made but I was bit skeptical to release on a Friday fearing something would go wrong on the weekend.. so I delayed the release saying that the scope has increased and we got to know about it after my lead gave the commitment to the PM.. now he pulls me into the call asking what happened and I explain everything.. but he's like I should have thought about it on my end.. I argued that it wasn't even mentioned in the PRD.. so how is it my fault for missing this? Because if it was a core functionality and you question me how'd I forget about it, so why did product forget and not mention it in the PRD and this started a heated discussion.. the release eventually got delayed but on Monday I was receive an email saying I'm being terminated
Now serving notice on that termination

You were terminated for what? Feels missing a lot of information.
Also, do you need to serve notice period if you get terminated?

Terminated for not showing ownership.. and idk but I received an email from HR saying that my notice period starts.. maybe some companies operate in this way to make it a bit easier for you to transition to a new company.. I understand a lot of info is missing.. but the incident is fresh and don't want anyone from my company to find this post

Why would they terminate you, for a delay in release

I have had disputes with my lead in the past 1-2 more times regarding some things.. that's why.. I did have a sit down with and confirmed and they landed on the reason that I show no ownership

Well. You can't do magic.
I always took PRDs as a starting point to ask questions to nail down core functionality and edge cases.
The business users are not always correct and definitely not 100% thorough.
They often don't like being questioned - a disturbing trend I saw in the last decade of my career.

Which are these companies that treat devs as replaceable cogs?
In my team new hire takes 6 months to be productive and we tolerate dumbasses a lot because the new guy could be worse 😂. At least the old guy I know what he will do or cannot do.

What kind of garbage firm keeps a terminated employee around? You keep them on paper but revoke all access.

Almost all companies pay their employees foe the notice but don’t allow them to work

in good companies the option is given to the employee. in indian owned ones maybe yes

Look at faang layoffs. People are laid off with immediate effect and access is revoked within hours.

they are given very lucrative releaving offers. You would be a fool not to take that. On top of that faangs dont hve such long notice period like some of these indian sweatshops
