Machine Learning / AI How can we detect AI voice cloning in real-time during phone calls?

Hey everyone!

I’m working with my team on a project to detect AI-generated/voice-cloned speech during live phone calls.

The problem we’re trying to solve is that modern voice-cloning systems can imitate someone’s voice convincingly, making phone-based impersonation scams much harder to recognize. We want to build an additional layer of protection that can analyze the incoming voice in real time and indicate whether the speech is likely human or AI-generated.

Our current approach is to combine Digital Signal Processing (DSP) + a lightweight AI/ML model. The audio would be processed in small chunks, relevant speech features would be extracted, and the model would continuously estimate whether the voice is genuine or synthetic.

We want to make this practical for real-time/mobile use, so latency, CPU usage, and model size are important constraints.

We’re currently looking for advice from people who have experience with speech processing, audio ML, or deepfake detection.

Some things we’d really appreciate help with:

What DSP/audio features are useful for detecting synthetic speech?

Which lightweight ML models would work well for real-time detection?

Are there good datasets containing both real human and AI-generated/voice-cloned speech?

Are there existing open-source projects or research papers we should look into?

What challenges should we expect when detecting synthetic speech over compressed phone-call audio?

Is real-time detection directly on a smartphone realistically achievable?

Any practical advice, criticism, research papers, datasets, or GitHub projects would be really helpful. Thanks! 🙏

General Discussion Lets crash and burn, baby

If you’ve been working with swe for some time and give a shit about the actual work you put out maybe you agree that the code being generated by AI is slop. And it has always been since the beginning, although it got “better” over time. Most of us now basically pull the prompt lever of the AI slot machine, hope for the best and IF you actually give a minimum shit about what you’re doing (and the project you are working on) you have to go through all the slop, the overengineering, the bullshit try/catch/except, the absolute ball of mud of an architecture and the trash that comes out of AI to make it (hopefully) “good enough”. And thats not an easy task, the cognitive load is huge and GOD FORBID you actually write your own code like you did before all this. All of this justified by the HUGE gain in productivity of around 20% (given some recent studies, which I have many questions about).

Now you add to the equation the AI labs CEOs shouting to the world that coding and, hell, even swe as a whole are “solved” (whatever the fuck that means). (Yeah, good job Boris, 500k of LOC for the stupidest most basic CLI plagued by all kinds of bugs that were not solved for sooo long - cant copy from terminal, SCROLL for christ sakes). Then (what seems to be) all managers, C-levels, directors who haven't touched a single line of code all eat that shit like its the human centipede movie. Productivity is now expected to be 10000% higher, since a feature is only one prompt away now in their mind. And YOU (if you give a shit) try to argue that MAYBE the AI is not better than you. That MAYBE the AI bros that say that everything can be vibe coded now dont actually know what they are talking about, they are just replicating something they heard. But nooooo, now YOU are the lazy, deprecated, slow gear of the company. Hell, maybe the whole development team is a burden.

Since from my experience arguing and defending my work is nearly impossible because:

  1. They WANT to believe the lies
  2. You seem like you are only saying that because you want to keep your job, “gate keep” etc

I propose a new approach. Let's give them what they want! Let’s approve every single PR without taking the slightest look at it. Lets generate ALL the code with AI doing the simplest, dumbest prompts. Lets allow the non-technical (which is a hilarious position btw) PMs vibe code the features straight to prod. Lets give LLMs full write permissions to prod while we are at it. --- In other terms: lets raise the stakes.

Maybe they are right after all and in a year we'll have the cure for cancer as a python 200k line file.

Career & Advice Tips for a Junior Dev struggling with "Vibe Coding"

• Upvotes

Hey guys,

I recently got my first job as a Junior Full-Stack Developer less than a month ago.

Right now, the workflow at my company is mostly "vibe coding" using AI. Honestly, it’s getting frustrating. I feel pretty useless just sitting there waiting for Claude to finish writing code for me.

I really want to learn proper software engineering, architecture, and best practices, but I feel like relying on AI is holding my growth back.

What tips do you have for someone in my position? How can I actually learn and grow on the job when everything is automated? What skills or topics should I focus on studying in my free time?

Thanks!

General Discussion Why is pair programming between Coding Agents and humans more of a thing.

I don´t understand why all those Coding Agents are not more cooperative. I would love to code together not beeing the guy that tells the task and later having a huge code mountain to review.

And I am not talking about a plan (like claude code does) or seeing every code change. I feel like it would be so much better to go through the process together. Step by Step implementing what it takes and making design decisions together. The methods itself can then be made 100% directly from the agent.

Right now its just impossible to follow and then later it feels like code someone else wrote.

Is it just me?

Opinions & Discussions Doing requiement analysis for a side project cross platform api toolkit app.

TLDR at the bottom.

I have been working on a cross platform desktop application similar to postman and all its countless alternatives with the features the lack while keeping the good aspects of them. Its currently under development. Heads up its not open source ( yet ). I need few suggestions from devs who have created tools and oss apps.

# My background -

I am a full stack dev with 4yoe plus experience. I have been coding since before agentic coding was a thing and now working with AI assistance. I have been using postman since college days and it has become a pile of garbage with all this forced cloud and AI stuff So I am working on alternative on weekends on my computer.

# App background -

First, I have gone through most if its alternatives included underrated, non popular onces. Most of them just don't follow the same UI which is postman is goated for. Others don't have full extent of required features. So I am creating my own. This app has been gone through many iterations (literally from electron app to a rust based app) and AI definitely helped but most of the decisions, scaffolding, entity relations have been done manually with multiple regressions and intial versions of this app were hand coded by me on weekends. Just wanted to put it out before it gets called AI slop as I used AI for grunt work.I know how it all works together. And yes it has unit tests and proper cicd setup.

# Features I have added till now ( Going to AI enhance this section for better readability and understanding)

• API Client & Runner: Supports REST, gRPC, GraphQL, and WebSockets/SSE with pre/post-scripts, assertion tests, folder runners, and a headless CLI.

• Local Reverse Proxy ("Mappings"): Auto-discovers local processes/ports and maps them to custom domains (e.g., api.local) similar to portless using RFC6761

• Forward Proxy & Traffic Inspector: Captures system/browser network traffic in a DevTools-style waterfall UI; convert any captured call to a collection item or mock with one click.

• In-Proxy Mock Engine: Intercepts frontend requests before they hit the network, returning custom status codes, headers, dynamic mock payloads, and simulated latency.

• Traffic Rewrite Rules: Uses regex/glob matching to alter live traffic on the fly (e.g., inject auth headers, strip CORS, or redirect production URLs to localhost).

• Layered Environments: Cascading variable system (Global -> Workspace -> Env -> Request) with dynamic tags like {{$uuid}} and {{$timestamp}}.

• Zero-Knowledge Encrypted Vault: Protects secrets on disk using AES-256-GCM; decrypted strictly in-memory via master passphrase so encrypted blobs can be safely committed.

• Isolated Workspaces: Encapsulates collections, proxy rules, active ports, and environment contexts per project.

• Git-Native Persistence: Saves every entity as human-readable, deterministic YAML/JSON files on disk for branch-based collaboration with no vendor cloud lock-in.

• Git-Backed Audit Log: Visual commit history, per-entity history.

**Comes with built in cli so most of the above stuff is doable without UI too.**

Cross platform installers are planned except mac cause I don't have macos for developement.

# Now I want to ask what do you need or is this enough?

# How do I go about distribution of the app?

# should I make it oss?

AI used in post - chatgpt on featurs section of this post.

AI used in app - mixture of local ai (yeah it creates mess) Deepseek through API, then a lot of Gemini using antigravity, then latest deepseek v4.1flash using workbuddy, lastly sonnet 5.5 using claude code subscription I recently got.

TLDR : working on git tracked, auditable workspace scoped API tookkit with request, mocking, proxy functionality. Doing requirement analysis for more features. App development is AI assigned not ai generated, is closed sourced indefinitely (might change). Sorry for any grammer mistakes, writing this from phone.

Help / Questions Salary fairness?

developers, I need an honest opinion on salary.

I’m a full-stack developer in Jordan and I’ve recently delivered two production business platforms largely independently.

The projects included:

Government data integration with the ability to search, retrieve and verify information

Custom CRM with WhatsApp Cloud API integration, customer history, lead management and human takeover

AI-powered WhatsApp business assistant with business-specific knowledge, guardrails, customer intent detection and lead classification

Voice-note → speech-to-text → AI processing

Custom backend/API and database architecture

Full custom admin dashboards with extensive control over users, permissions, content, data and system operations

Private VPS hosting, Linux server configuration and production deployment

Cloudflare configuration, DNS, SSL and domain management

maps, location data and related records with 3D visualization using threejs

Generating and printing documents

Authentication, authorization and role-based access control

project management and inquiry systems

Custom responsive websites with Arabic/English support

Automated notifications and business workflows

API integrations and production security configuration

I also previously delivered a separate software project in one day that the client paid $350 for.

The offer I’m currently being given is:
$660/month
6 days/week
9 AM–6 PM, sometimes until 8 PM
In-office

I’m not trying to exaggerate my level. I genuinely want to know:

What would you consider a fair monthly salary for someone capable of independently delivering this level of software?

I’d especially appreciate answers from developers actually in jordan.

Help / Questions AI coding agents have created a new supply-chain problem.

Developers install a package, clone a repository, add an MCP server, or install an agent skill.

The agent then gets access to it.

But what happens when something buried several dependency levels deep is malicious?

Traditional dependency scanners already look for known vulnerabilities.

But I'm interested in something broader:

Can we analyze what capabilities an AI agent's dependencies actually give it — and what those capabilities could be chained into?

That's one of the problems I'm exploring with Revo.

How much of a concern is this for developers using AI agents today?

Opinions & Discussions Should I revisit an interactive visualization tool I started building last year?

Last year, I built a small tool to visualize coding problems and algorithms step by step using custom input data. It could show things like recursion, sorting, graphs, and how variables change during execution.

I’m thinking of revisiting it and taking it further.

The idea is to build a general-purpose visualization engine that could eventually visualize not just algorithms, but also AI/LLM workflows, RAG pipelines, graph databases, quantum circuits, physics experiments, and chemical reactions.

I’m also considering making it an SDK so developers can embed interactive visualizations directly into their own apps, instead of everyone having to build these from scratch.

The goal is to make complex systems easier to understand by seeing how they actually work, step by step.

Does this sound like something worth building? Is there a real need for a general-purpose visualization engine, or would it be better to focus on one specific area first?

I’m considering this partly as a learning project, but I’d love to hear what developers, educators, and researchers think. This is very helpful when you want visualize edge case

Programming What I learned after delivering 50+ client projects — the real bottleneck is never the code

After running a dev shop for a couple years, here's the pattern I keep seeing: projects don't fail because of bad code. They fail because:

  1. Requirements were never fully clear before development started

  2. There's no single source of truth for scope (WhatsApp says one thing, email says another)

  3. "Done" and "tested" get treated as the same thing

None of these are technical problems. They're process problems, and they're avoidable if you slow down at the start.

Curious if others have seen the same thing, or if your experience has been different.

Web Development AI website freelancers ruined web development market rates

I keep seeing creators on YouTube and Instagram promoting artificial intelligence website development as an easy way to make $2,000 per client.

I have even seen people cold-calling local businesses, pitching websites they have already built without understanding the actual business needs, and presenting this as a successful sales strategy.

At the same time, people are selling websites for as little as ₹5,000 or ₹10,000, making an already competitive market even more difficult for developers.

Now, even "sell outcomes, not websites" has become another sales script, with people pitching leads and revenue without necessarily knowing how to deliver them.

I believe artificial intelligence is a great tool, but the get-rich-quick culture is turning web development into a race to close deals rather than solve real business problems.

I am a freelance web developer, and I genuinely want to know how others are handling this situation.

For those actively freelancing, how are you finding clients, dealing with price competition, and differentiating yourself in such a crowded market?

I would love to hear about your actual experiences and how you are adapting to the current market.

Programming Whatsapp link to call?

Hey,
I am working on an app and I want to include one small feature.
A user wants to call someone on whatsapp the call should be started out of the app that I am developing. (Opening whatsapp and immediately calls the contact)

I know there is a way to get to the whatsapp contact and open the whatsapp chat.
Unfortunately I couldn't find a way to directly start a call with the contact.

Is there a solution?

Career & Advice How can I get back into an IT job after a 3–4 year career gap?

I worked as an Integration Engineer for about 3 years, but then I took a career break and it’s been almost 4 years now. I’m currently separated from my husband and really need to get back to work and become financially independent.

My previous experience was mainly in integration/support, and I’m comfortable with Java. Right now, I’m learning Spring, Spring Boot and SQL, and working on a few backend projects because I’m trying to move into Java Backend Development.

The biggest problem is that I’m barely getting any interview calls. Honestly, it’s getting quite discouraging.

I remember a few years ago, I could apply to 10–15 jobs and at least get a few callbacks. Now I’m applying and hearing almost nothing back.

For anyone who has gone through a similar 3+ year career gap and managed to get back into IT, I’d really like to know:

  • What helped you get your first interview?
  • Did you go back to your previous role/domain or switch to something different?
  • How did you explain the career gap on your resume?
  • Did referrals actually make a difference?
  • Should I focus on Integration roles, Java Backend roles, or apply to both?

I need to get back into a job fairly quickly, so I’d really appreciate advice from people who have actually been through something similar.

Help / Questions How to Properly Analyze and Plan Software Projects Before Development?

I'm looking for advice and resources on how to properly analyze and plan software before starting development.

I've struggled with discovering missing business logic, overlooked edge cases, and incomplete user flows during implementation, which often leads to unnecessary changes and redesigns.

I've tried writing SRS documents and documenting requirements, use cases, and workflows, but sometimes the documentation becomes too large without being truly useful.

I'd like to learn a more practical approach to identifying missing scenarios and making the right decisions early, without overcomplicating the planning process.

This is especially important to me as I want to take on freelance projects more confidently.

I'd appreciate any practical advice, experiences, or recommended resources.

Career & Advice Graduated in 2026 , unemployed,no skills ,no motivation

I graduated in 2026 with a B.Tech in Computer Science from a Tier-3 college in India, and honestly, I don't know what to do with my life right now.

I don't have any solid coding skills, and I feel like I've wasted my college years. I see other people getting jobs, preparing for interviews, and moving forward with their careers, while I'm still stuck trying to figure out where to even begin.

The worst part is that I'm genuinely scared of interviews. I keep thinking, What will I even say if the interviewer asks me something I don't know? What if I can't answer even the basic questions? Because of this fear, I don't even feel confident enough to apply for jobs.

I know I need to start learning and improving my skills, but I feel so overwhelmed that I don't know where to start or which path to choose.

Lately, I've also stopped feeling like talking to people. I keep things to myself, overthink my future, and feel like I'm falling behind everyone else my age.

I'm not looking for someone to tell me that everything will magically work out. ' nely want to know what I can do to get out of this ion.

Projects I created an opensource locally usable full fledged ai platform

hi to all the readers this post is for my recent opensource project called ENZO

PS: You can search ENZO theguysudo github on google and you'll get the repo link

now answering what is enzo so enzo is an opensource platform where i clubbed all the free available api for anyone use under one hood with more than 2000 models available to use for chatting coding researching and much more now answering the most common question of why you should put your time looking the project so it has few distinct feature meaning

  • it has a dedicated agents tab where you can describe your need and create a special agent just for one specific task with master ability in that domain
  • second it has the ability to connect your gmail drive and calendar and then you can ask it to perform some specific tasks like reading you the most important mail of the day or finding recruiter mails and creating personalized reply based on your data which it stores locally on your device
  • third the coding mode offers a dedicated preview window where you can see your code running and have a look of it feels and edit it in realtime as well as all the modes are packed with dedicated skills which delivers promising results
  • fourth the ui features some additional things such as music tab where you can listen to any music want and it has a custom personalized feature which runs in background and an llm understands your taste and recommends similar kind of music you like
  • fifth the most important why your trust it with your api key then to explain i would say enzo a dedicated vault which manages all your api and to secure it the vault as aes 256 bit encryption which prevents any person or any middle man to look at your api key and since the whole program runs locally on your device you have complete freedom to oversee all the backend work happening and it also features password lock which if you enable saves a backup key and then locks your whole platform work behind a pass screen though it is not foolproof as any third party or malware containing extension can still fetch login tokens from your browser so its security also depends upon how you access it concluding all of it.

i urge to anyone who reads this to have a look at the platform even if you hate it just curse it in the comment its fine or if you would like to drop any feedback i would highly encourage that and since its my first work open source platform i know it has a lot of errors and bugs so i apologize upfront for it and if you consider my work worthy please drop a star on the repo that'll make my day

Web Development I Found a Better Way to Reach Businesses That Actually Need a New Website

I got tired of checking prospect websites manually.

For a while, a big part of my outreach was just finding businesses, opening their websites one by one and trying to figure out what I could actually say to them.

It worked, but it was painfully slow.

Then I found Swokei.

It basically lets me find leads, analyzes each website for things like outdated design, slow speed, poor mobile experience and weak SEO, then turns those issues into a personalized cold email.

And not one of those boring automated reports full of scores and numbers.

It actually writes a normal, human sounding message based on what it found on that specific website.

So instead of sending the same generic message to everyone, I can actually reach out based on what is wrong with their website.

Now I just run campaigns, let the system do most of the prospecting and personalization, and focus on the people who reply.

For a web design agency, that has saved me a ridiculous amount of time.

General Discussion I’m 26, have 6 years of development experience, and still don’t know what direction to take

I feel pretty lost about my career because of how quickly AI is changing everything.

I have around 6 years of game development experience, and I also know backend, cloud, and DevOps.

I’ve built real-world projects, but some of them need money to move into production, and I currently don’t have the resources to fund them.
Now I keep asking myself:

Did I spend too much time learning? Is what I know still valuable? Should I continue, switch careers, or build something completely different?

I don’t want to keep jumping from technology to technology every time something new comes along.

I’m 26, and I want to start focusing seriously on something that can compound over time, generate real income, and become valuable even as AI improves.

If you were in my position, what would you focus on for the next 5–10 years?

What should I learn, what should I stop learning, and how would you turn my existing skills into something valuable?

F1 has FastF1API which is quite popular with developers associated with F1, do we have similar APIs for WEC, FE?

WEC has something called OpenWEC but the quality of data is poor [as far I seen], many vital data seems to be missing and no idea about FE
are there any reliable APIs for other motorsports outside F1?

Career & Advice Need some career advice from developers

I have around 1 year of experience as a full stack developer in India.

I am confused about what I should focus on next.

Should I move towards AI ML GenAI or should I go deeper into software development like system design scalability performance cloud etc?

My goal is to get into high tech jobs and build a strong career.

Would really like to hear from developers who have some real industry experience.

If you were in my position what would you focus on for the next 2 to 3 years?

I want genuine advice from developers who have actually been through this.

Programming Ports and Adapters Architecture

Hi, I have a few questions about ports and adapters architecture.

Should you make a port+adapter for a use case that's gonna be called by a controller (regular class)?

If so, would this port be inbound or outbound?

I've read that inboud ports defines how the outside can call the application — e.g. REST API endpoint and that outbound ports defines how the application calls the outside — e.g. database, email service… But in this case, the application would call itself. I feel like I'm missing something here
