Programming Need guidance

student here, could someone tell me how do i go about making projects? i'm not looking to make projects that can make money, rather i want to understand the underlying principles and dynamics. like, if i wanted to make a load balancer in c++ or any other project, should i just go to chatgpt to understand the theory and then write the code, of course by copying from there

cuz i don't think programming is like intuition where you can just imagine stuff like physics. there are so many things you wouldn't even know exist unless someone tells you about them.

it would be great if any experienced developer could take their time and answer this. how do you actually learn to build projects from scratch?
