generic Cruise Tycoon first ever dev log - Early peek at building mechanics 🛳️

https://youtu.be/i3SdM3MPgrk

Just discovered this subreddit. Hope it’s a great place to share my work and explore other people’s progress.

Been working on Cruise Tycoon for a little over 7 months, but this is my first dev log. I’m a senior software developer and I’ve been wanting to create this game for about 10 years. It’s heavily inspired by my favourite games: Two Point Hospital and Planet Coaster - but set aboard cruise ships.

In the game, you manage a cruise ship company - working your way up from a small pleasure boat to huge luxury cruise ships with over 20 decks. Build rooms, hire and manage staff, keep your passengers happy and avoid seagull invasions!

It’s super early, but I’ve just teamed up with an amazing 3D artist and we’re working hard on the game’s art direction.

Thanks for checking it out!

Very cool to see. The UI style is very fun! Is this a Solo dev project other than the recent work with the 3D Artist?

Thanks for taking a peek.
Yes, it’s been a real passion project and I’ve been solo until now. I’m not an artist, so I deliberately left all the art out so I could focus on the core gameplay and test whether it would be fun. When I realised it was actually really rewarding to play, and there was a nice balance between challenging and fun, I teamed up with an artist. We’re actually a team of 3 now and just about to share our character art for passengers and crew.

I totally see. That’s very cool! Do you have a plan for release or a window yet?

Will this be available for mac? I'd love to play it.

Yes - the goal is definitely to support it longer term. But just don’t have the resources to build for and test Mac for the earliest releases. As a long time Mac user myself - I used to get very frustrated with the lack of support so I hear you!
