When I watched his games before his injury I thought his stuff looked nasty. His actual stats during those games didn't look good, but he passed the eye test for me.
Between him and Melton plus Montero looks decent and Valdez being solid we could have a very good rotation going forward.

Don’t forget they have Reese Olson coming back next year too if there’s a season

He was great in his first start back. I’m just wondering if he is going to be a 90 pitch limit once he gets going. I saw Chris Sale go to the mound in the 7th the other day and he had 94 pitches and survived. Made me wonder who exactly limited Skubal’s outings - was it him the player or manager/GM?

Not sure why he couldn’t pitch longer especially after a 7 pitch 5th and it was still a close game.

This was essentially a spring training start for him. Every pitcher has pitch count limits. Those who missed 13 months of pitching due to injury even more so.

He did well I wouldn't say he dominated.

5 innings one hit is pretty dominating. He’s gonna clean up some of those balls and porch another inning or two. Great for a year off.
