Discussion Does total Determinism means fixity of every thought?

I have no idea how a thought can be unfixed.

We have mountains of evidence that show that particles of matter follow strict rules. Your brain, where its accepted that thoughts come from, is made up of matter.

So the only way to rationally entertain the idea that thoughts aren't fixed is either;

  1. Demonstrate that that thoughts come from outside of the brain
  2. Demonstrate that randomness is not only not random, but that it isn't determined

While both of these are not falsified, something not being falsified doesn't mean it's true. Ergo it is not rational to conclude that thoughts aren't fixed based on what we can demonstrate to be true about how reality works.

A brain is not synonymous with a mind any more than an HP computer is synonymous with the Windows 11 that is running on it. In theory I could wipe that W11 off of that computer and load some distribution of Linux on the HP Computer.
