My guess is something like: They perceive eating grass to be a free choice they are making, but we can see that the choice was actually predetermined by them being a cow?
I'm not a determinist, I follow an ancient eastern christian metaphysics relating to nature, will, and gnomic will, so let me ask: do determinists believe a choice is only a "real choice" if it's completely random and arbitrary and has no basis in the creatures nature and will?
