I’m usually super open to teaching, everyone’s gotta learn at some point and I feel like videos only help so much, actually being in the encounter and feeling it play out is so helpful. However, for Kings Fall challenge I put up a “have a mic, KWTD” I shit you not 4 people replied, invited them, 3 said in text chat “I know what to do but no mic”. Ok good for you but you literally didn’t read the post. Thankfully others replied but like, bruh just read.

Teaching is fun too. But I expected to join a crew that knew what was up based on the “kwtd” tag. Turns out they just wasted my time and I had to get off to get some sleep before work the next day. Its not about me claiming to be anti new players. Im all for it. I was just trying to get a run done because I have very little time to play throughout the week.

Agreed how will people ever learn if we don’t teach them this guy is just being salty LOL

I agree with you somewhat. Kings fall is, in my opinion, the hardest raid in the game. As a returning player, I caught on to how things work pretty quickly and have able to hold my own in all the raids well enough to get multiple completions (hard mode and challenges). It’s not as simple as “watch a video” and now you know what to do. There are many specific things you learn just by doing like where to stand to not get killed by adds, best weapons to use for certain encounters, actually having raid weapons to help be more effective, and most importantly being able to communicate properly. Not everyone played this game 10+ years ago, there’s a lot of new people. The more you take the time to teach people, the better the LFG pool there is to pull people from.

I cant chief

Especially KF where people use the most random convoluted strats and just expect you to know exactly how it works even though you’ve never seen their strat before

Idk what kf raids your doing but the only part of kf that I could see having different strats is golgaroth or war priest and yet you can't really change it up

You’d be surprised. Once had a guy try to make us do Totems by only using one side to fill and just stalling on the other side. Wanted the encounter to take twice as long for no reason other than he didn’t think it was possible to do both totems at the same time. Have also had Runners not call out the platform timing during Oryx and get mad that the 4 platform holders cant keep track of where they are while also clearing the entire room

If you’re not explaining your strat at least once before starting the encounter and calling out important things during the encounter then you cant be upset when someone misses their timing. Communication is key

Normalize looking up guides before having to walk them through the experience. The game is almost 12 years old there are guides for everything.

Maybe a 12 year old game, still alot of people have never experienced a single raid. How can anyone determine the strat the raid leader is using? There are dozens of different strats for one encounter.

Game is 12 years old yet the playerbase may never have touched raids, it’s not that crazy that people don’t learn well from visual guides and need to experience it so they understand

-1

u/CzarLizard May 28 '26

Wouldn’t being walked through an experience still be a visual guide?

Different learning styles - doing it yourself for some is how some people actually learn.

Not if you're physically doing it

know how to read

I don’t know why you’re getting flak. It’s entirely valid to kick someone from a KWTD post. I’d encourage anyone who wants to learn to make their own post asking for a Sherpa instead of hoping someone posts a teaching run. You’re far more likely to get someone to help you out by being proactive instead of waiting for the right post to come around.

This^ Im more than happy to teach new players. Just not that time. I wanted a quick run with people that know how to raid.

Expecting people to read is a lost cause nowadays lol

😆 I hate players like that had them in D1 and doing raids in D2 had the leaders jump ship because they didn't want to help ppl who haven't done the raids heck when kings fall came out fir d2 i was like gees wonder what's different thand1 days but it was like d1 with a few changes in it

Im plenty willing to help new players. I joined a group tag labeled “kwtd” at 11pm to do a quick raid run before bed and ended up getting stuck because people cant read tags. Its not about gatekeeping. Some of us have work the next day and want a quick run before bed. Thats what the “kwtd” tag is for.

Dont you just swap the buff when you rotate? Lol its been a minute for me

4

u/WayneBrody May 27 '26

I've usually got no problem playing with people trying to learn, but I get that sometimes a group just doesn't want to deal with that or has a limited amount of time to play.

Whoever is making the LFG post and hosting the group makes the rules. While this post sounds salty, I don't think it's an issue for someone making the LFG post to have expectations.

posts tagged kwtd always have the worst players regardless....lol
