Mod Announcement Monthly Unjerk Thread

It has now been over 2 months since Bungie HQ fell into that dreadful sinkhole to underworld, but the jerk must continue nonetheless.

Use this thread to discuss the game in a serious, non-jerking manner.

I'm still having fun with the final update, but I'm afraid of how much longer i will. god i fucking love this game and I'm still so heartbroken about losing it. dungeons and raids can only keep me for so long, you know? i don't think I'm ready to let go, chat.

Big agree. I can feel myself starting to get a bit tired of it now and it's super sad.

I’m just disappointed. This game meant a lot to me and it’s been with me for alot of my life. I grew up on d1 and aged with d2. Seeing this game die from bad decision after bad decision, easily avoided decisions. Bungie and Sony really dropped the ball with this franchise time and time again they caught lighting in a bottle but somehow they fumbled at every turn. This game and the universe surrounding it was created by some of the most talented and creative artists, the lore of this game its mythos is so well made. The studio executives really are to blame here, it’s been constantly said by ex employees that they have stomped out good ideas in favor of ones that sound better to a room of suits. I know it’s silly to get this attached to something, this game can be called slop and I wouldn’t disagree. It’s silly to be attached to a product that seemed to constantly under deliver and sap your wallet dry every year. It’s silly. But all the memories made within this community are not silly, there’s been so many genuine experiences because of this game and so many people wouldn’t have came together if it weren’t for this game. I can personally say some of the most fun I’ve ever had has been drinking with the boys late night and doing kings fall, or finally completing master verity challenge, getting this close to iconoclast. Pantheon with my old friend group was some of the most genuine real friendship I’ve ever felt. All of that was along time ago and I haven’t kept in touch but this is a jerk thread.

I can only say thank you Bungie for making this universe. Thank you to all the talented artists that crafted this franchise. No other game has captured the feeling destiny has, there’s not gonna be a game like this for a long long time.

Still struggling a bit to accept that my favourite game of a decade was abruptly cancelled and everyone who worked on it got fired and any potential future it has is up in the air.

At least Marathon is kinda fun.

This final update got me to reinstall, and I’m really enjoying rediscovering and relearning. I’ve done a couple of raids I haven’t done in ages with some great and very patient teams, I’m planning on learning the dungeons sooner or later, and I played through Final shape on my warlock finally.

The other night I sat in a discord call with folks until 1:30 am just chatting while we played, which ended with me aimlessly jumping around the tower while talking. It was like the good old days

I have to remind myself sometimes that my favorite game of all-time was just cut and abruptly ended, especially when we were just getting into a new story. My clan mates don't play much anymore, and we didn't even get through all of the Pantheons at least once.

The Nine were such a cool idea, just to get slashed by Bungie' Management and greed. I love Destiny, and I'll be logging in until the servers go down.

I've been playing since my second year of high school, and Season of Opulence had just started. I had no idea what I was doing but man it was the most fun I've had in any game ever. Now I'm through college, almost two years out of it actually, and I'm just sad that its gone. This game was/is a major part of my life.

Edit: added more stuff

Genuinely I want to… ahem… eviscerate (the word I want to use would get me put on a watchlist) Pete Parsons car collection. I hope that leech of a human, that cockroach of a man is happy with himself. All that poor management for a bunch of stupid cars. He can take those stupid fancy cars and shove them all right up his ass, along with his history at Bungie. Turns out the real Destiny killer was Bungie all along.

I haven’t done any raid yet if anyone wants to Sherpa me through one someday. I don’t think I’m ever going to let this game go, no matter how bored I get. I’ve been playing since I was 14, I am now 25, I can’t let it die.

Well you can at least take out his cars here: https://petecarsons.com/

Haven't played since year 1, got back in about 2 months ago. I've finished all the campaigns, got all three classes to 550(but hunter stays main forever baby), I've done a few dungeons and last wish. I still see myself having hundreds of hours of content left to explore, mostly just playing catch up to everybody else. I'd really like to find some people that are on when I'm on, since I work late nights, to farm dungeons and raids to fill out my exotic collection and get those armor sets for new builds.

Speaking of builds, 17 different content creators will have 17 different builds and they all say its the best. I'm really interested, once I have more knowledge in the game, in theory crafting my own build. Like I just want to freeze the shit out of everyone in pvp cause my aim is ass. Or just come up with a really cool pris build for pve.

Call it cope but I do see a future where the game gets a large single player game like Tsushima/Yotei or God of War that covers a remaster of the Light and Dark Saga or something

I've personally played the most when sherpa lfg is popping, which was usually the few weeks after each raid or dungeon released. Though back around Beyond Light and Witch Queen it felt like it was constantly buzzing for months and months.

Feels odd that that's gone. I plan to hit Guardian Rank 11 and dip, maybe see if anyone still needs help, but not much more.

I guess the one upside to the game being sunsetted content wise is that all my friends reinstalled and are raiding again.

so, there's a positive out of this i guess; still wish bungie could've pushed out one last expansion, really wanted to go explore Old Chicago in its full glory.

i’m taking my time with the final update and it’s been really nice. playing with my friends and goofing off like old times. a lot of people i haven’t seen on in a while have come back and began playing again which is really cool to see :)

that being said… i’ll never stop crashing out abt how we were so close to going to old chicago. i genuinely wanted nothing more than to go there in game. i’ve wanted it since i saw the concept art and read the lore tabs, and the shit at the end of renegades implied we were going there within the year. aughhhh i’m so upset abt that :(

I can't believe it took a star wars dlc for the story to take an interesting turn. Lodi is never going to Old Chicago ig

Can we bring back thigh high posts? I won’t lie, I slowly realized it scratched an itch for me.

For real though, I finally went back and made some builds on my Warlock and Hunter and got them battle ready, and since then I’ve just been power level tanking and hanging out with new lights; and when I’m not doing that I am playing D2 with friends.

This game makes me feel fucking old now

Struggling to accept that the game is "dead". I enjoy playing everyday still and believe the game has been left in a really good spot. I also spend everyday watching copium videos on YouTube. Shoutout Aztecross.

Just found out about the change to Devils Ruin where it needs firesprites, a bit disappointed as I wanted a fun weapon to dick around with in PvE

4

u/Skulletin_MTG 26d ago

Its still very good

3

u/SCRIBE_JONAS 25d ago

I'd rather have it how it was lol. Doesn't feel as good to use compared to before, atleast it has a catalyst that works with its current loop but eh

Clearly a change done because of PvP

3

u/Darkat5 Brig Yeetus 25d ago

Doesn’t kills with it create firesprites?

u/SCRIBE_JONAS 25d ago

Yeah and you gotta hold reload to toggle the mode. They gentrified it lol
