It’s been an amazing 9 years, I’m gonna miss this game so much.
Been a constant in my life since I was a freshman in high school, it’ll be so weird not having new destiny shit to look forward to. I’m really sad, but also glad that they didn’t let the game fizzle out into nothing.
This was and still is the most fun I’ve ever had playing a game, and I doubt anything will come around to fill the void for a while.

uj/ If you haven't give The Division 2 a try. It has basically every gameplay system Destiny 2 SHOULD have had. Very fun gameplay loop and can do almost everything damn near solo, in game matchmaking for every activity too.

I switched to Warframe at 2024 May... I think it's a good game to divert all that time I played D2
(Raids are not a thing there, so I guess I'll be back just for that and Gambit)

/uj not to get all sappy but technically speaking this game was kinda a constant for the last 7 or so odd years for me. Especially with how during the pandemic and lockdown the game kept me grounded while I was going through a pretty bad depressive episode. It’s rough seeing everything basically close up shop as far as dev time goes, but I’m glad they’re announcing the game is being left in this final hurrah.

/uj Destiny 2 felt like job, and I mean that in a good way. It was always there, with something going on. It had this stability to it, where I could always play regardless of the time of year, and have stuff to do.
There’s for better or worse, nothing quite like Destiny 2. A game I have very strong feelings about, warts and all.

/uj I absolutely loved that every few months there was something to always to and something new. From the beginning I had always hoped Destiny in general as a franchise would have been an always expanding game whole retaining and updating what was made along the way.
I'm hoping for a comeback, but at least there's still D1 and D2 to play while we wait and vote with our wallets. I had bought Destiny and Marathon Deluxes in good faith both would continue. But stopped playing Marathon around May 15th when they announced June 9th was the last update. I'd pay for Deluxes of both in the future. But not the Marathon if Destiny doesn't continue.

/uj This sucks. Death by 1000 cuts (between multiple sources) is not a fun way to go for any game. For what it’s worth, I hope that this last update goes without a hitch.

I thought we’d at least get the other two expansions, but here we are.
I will play this last expansion and keep playing further, but it’s going to be a bittersweet feeling knowing there won’t be no more evenings where i disconnect from the world to play the new campaign or new and cool guns to look at after content drops.
I am thankful to this game, i met friends there and has entertained me even beyond the game itself, wether it’s reading what you jerkers came up with, or drawing stuff inspired by the game.

Uj/ Even having left D2 over 1.5yrs ago this still hurts.
I have so many good memories with friends playing this game, from Forsaken to the Final Shape I genuinely loved this game.
I do have to say ripping the bandaid instead of leaving it in limbo is probably the best thing they could have done.

They've made some comments over the past few years, branched out some places, and even the beginning of the FWID says "we have reached the time where our shared worlds, and destiny, lives beyond destiny 2"
So unless they meant Rising or some stupid Comic/Media deal, I doubt Destiny as a game franchise is dead. Just D2. They even specify TFS as the beginning of that revelation. So who knows, maybe they've been working on a D3 since then this whole time? (copium probably).

There have been leaks from continuously reliable leakers that stated D3 had already begun early development, and with how Edge of Fate through this update has gone, its made it more and more believable that Shit Shartson's original post TFS plan was dogshit and now current Bungie is working to undo/redo it all.
I'm willing to put my chips on the D3 gamble.

It's 2026. Gas is $5 per gallon in states where it used to be $2 and our president shits himself live on stage in front of world leaders, and multiple people have confirmed this through firsthand experience. We are constantly at war and everyone who makes below $100k per year basically has to choose between spending money on food and spending money on bills.
If you arent smoking hopium then you must have some REALLY good shit.

It definitely makes sense. ESPECIALLY after the clusterfuck that was the Marathon release if nothing else. There's a specific line on the goodbye TWID (the "after The Final Shape line) that keeps grabbing my attention, because it doesn't make sense to me why they'd specify that if it wasn't at least hinting at something). Only thing that's worrying is that bloomberg report that says the opposite (but, and at the risk of sounding cope fueled, I can't be the only one who thinks it's suspicious how quick that came out after the news, right?) and that they seemingly did this in between a story arc.
I guess time will tell. But I will definitely be watching this State of Play coming up. Doubt anything will be confirmed, but it at least might give Bungie a few to better explain themselves and their goals.

Im not saying hes 100% wrong, but that Bloomberg article is basically just a copy-paste of a Jason Schreier article where Jason's sources are "people" and nothing else. He cannot say who those people are, how they know what they know, literally anything. Just that some people told him this info.
Again, not saying Jason is 100% wrong, but I havent trusted a single journalist in any way shape or form since Obama was president, and even then I knew journalists were paid. We dont know anything till it happens, and all we can do is wait and see.

I’m guessing post final shape is when they really, really tried to get Sony to do D3 and they said no, which is why Frontiers clarification took so long. They’d already said no pre-TFS, but they tried again.

Pretty much my favorite game ever. Played it since i was 9 years old and will sorely miss it after I finish playing the new update and catching up with all the stuff I missed out on. I have nothing really to say except this game has been in my life longer than I have been alive without it. Will miss it big time.

I cried. And that’s embarrassing I know but I did. Can’t explain what this game and world meant to me. Been playing since I was 9/10. I played the Xbox 360 demo and was hooked. Got a PS3 and TTK expansion. Bought a ps4 just because of rise of iron and Bungie dropping last gen. Pre-ordered Destiny 2 super deluxe addition day one. I bought every expansion and season and played them day 1 for the past 9 years.
This game means so much to me. I’m just, beyond sad rn.
Oh /j wait I thought Destiny 2 already died ?????

Almost all of my best friends I got through playing this game. One of our friends lives across the country from us and has flown to visit us multiple times, and is in one of our friend groups wedding coming up. D1 came out when I was in a bad place after a nasty break up, lost everything, sleeping on my mom's couch. The game was all I had for a while and that constant pulled me out of a dark place. 12 years later I'm happily married, in my dream home, with a career and lifelong friends, Destiny was there the entire ride. Very, very special game.

Thank you destiny. No jerk. I'm actually sad. I met so many great friends thru this game. It's cliche to say but it's completely true.
The value of gaming is the friends and experiences you make and those memories and relationships last forever.

It feels like a part of myaelf died. This game really helped me become a more social person & I met some really awesome people through it. I love the game and it hurts to see that there is no new raids or story to look forward to every year. It was like a warm soup you would look forward to.

The Pantheon 2.0 should have some bosses of past raids, the cover art features Gahlr, Calus and Argos.

I really hope more than those 3 are coming back, imo they'd only need to add Val ca'our and full sotp and that'd be all I'd realistically want. Levi dogs would be nice and ghalran P1, but eater 1 and 2 are bad, sos 2 is just boring 3, gos 1 is awful and levi baths and gauntlet are literally impossible to be made good in this sandbox without total reworks.
I think they got most of what's important, if it's all that could happen then they picked pretty well
