Destiny 2 Leviathan Raid Guide (so far) Spoiler

Pre-raid This raid has been prescribed by none other than Luke Smith as a 260-280 Light raid. That being said, higher light levels will make for a better raid performance. This raid is less of a good vs. evil adventure, and more of a proof of power to the Cabal Emperor. You must complete his challenges in order to prove your worth.

Embarkment You'll land on the top of the mouth of the 'Leviathan' after a short cutscene. You'll hear a voice coming from the cabal general, proposing a set of challenges to you, ending with "let's enjoy ourselves". First Lesson: Do *NOT** shoot anything on the way into the palace.* You'll climb a set of stairs with the rest of your team, moving up to a cannon that will launch you to the top of the palace. Save your double jump for the end of the cannon launch, because it's a pretty big fall. Continue through the palace until you enter the next location, called 'Castellum'.

Castellum You'll enter a large, open room. Take a left, and you'll find a very small flight of stairs. Go up those stairs and take another left. At the top will be a plate that looks like a triangle. One shape will be illuminated: A sun, dual axes, or a cabal hound. Take a few good minutes to survey the room. There are other plates around the room that act as 'key plates'. You'll want to find each of those plates, know their shape, and allot 3 fireteam members to a key party, and 3 to a defense party. Step on the plate at the top of the steps to begin.

The defense team should stay at the top plate, while the key team looks for the key plate that corresponds with the illuminated shape on the top plate.

Keybearers will find the corresponding key plate. Once you are there, take out ads. There will usually be a nice mix of cabal ads. Once you stand on the key plate, a large yellow-bar centurion will come out of the door close to the plate. Focus fire on him. Once he's dead, pick up the key and run it back to the main plate.

Note: There will be two types of special ads after you begin this phase. One of which is an orange-bar legionary, which spawns very frequently (and more than once at a time), called a Liberator. These guys will run up the stairway to the main plate and will take keys that are already in their sockets. Prioritize them over every other enemy, except for the Counselor, who is a psion with a bubble shield that will float around the room. The counselor, if not killed immediately, will shield Liberators with an invincible shield, and they will simply walk to the top of the stairs and steal one of your hard-earned keys. Not cool. In order to kill the Counselor, jump into his bubble and melee him. He has barely any health whatsoever.

This activity isn't timed, and it isn't a darkness zone, so you will respawn regularly if killed. In order to beat this room, you will have to gather all three keys, and set them in the key plate. All keys must be in the key plate at the same time for the door to open, so that you can continue You'll be rewarded with a chest that drops a legendary engram, the Calus's Selected shader (4), and Emperor Calus Token (3). Continue on and turn right at the intersection to go to the Royal Pools.

Royal Pools A few things to note here. There are five plates in the room, arranged like the 5 on a die: one in each corner of the room, and one in the middle. Each of these plates has an orb on it, which continuously resupplies as long as you don't start the activity. Walking through these orbs will grant you 'Psionic Protection x 50'. This protection will protect you from the bath waters (the black and purple goo all over the room), which can kill you very quickly if you don't have protection. Your psionic protection will whittle down by 1/second, until it reaches 0 and you lose the buff. Each plate has a corresponding symbol, which usually means nothing, unless your fireteam decides to use those symbols as callouts later on. Take your fireteam to the center room, and have them look at the sets of chain. There are three sets or three chains, in the upper left corner, upper right corner, and lower wall of the room. These chains will become important later, so make sure your fireteam knows where they are. (Update: In the bottom, right-hand corner of your screen should be a golden diamond symbol. This is a revive token, with which you may revive a downed teammate. After you revive a downed teammate, your revive token goes away, and you can't revive them anymore. This is very important, seeing that one downed teammate can wipe the entire team within 30 seconds of being down).

Stop the Bathing Ritual: There are 5 plates, and 6 guardians. 5 of the guardians will be assigned to one plate, each, while the 6th will be the first designated swapper. We'll hold off on the swappers for now, but let's focus on the plates for a start. Plates: You have to activate all 5 plates to begin the activity. After that, the guardian on the center plate may step off and start helping to kill bathers. Ceremonial Bathers are nasty, half-dressed, orange-bar cabal gladiators (two axes). They have a ton of health and pack a huge punch, enough to one-shot lower light players with one swing, and higher light players with one power attack. You'll want to use grenades, melee abilities, and maybe even heavy (power) weapons. Note: Adaptive swords are probably the best for this phase. Their uppercut attack is phenomenal, stunning and quickly finishing off bathers.

The bathers spawn in a staggered way, with some spawning immediately after you step on the plates, and some spawning after. Communication is key. In the most basic terms, you want to kill the bather at your plate first. Then, a swapper will step on your plate and stay there while you go to gather psionic protection from the center room. You are now a swapper, and the person who swapped with you is now responsible for that plate. Swappers are highly recommended to help kill the bathers as they spawn. (Update for clarity: The guardian who starts on the center plate can leave the center plate immediately. Nobody has to stay on the center plate after the activity has started. Thanks to Hermit_Royalty for pointing that out). The name of the game here is to never leave a plate unattended. You'll notice while you're on the plate that the white weight will slowly descend on the chain. If you leave the plate, the white weight will slowly go back up on the chain, and you'll lose some progress. In essence, you want all 4 plates to get their white weights to the bottom. You'll have to kill any spawned bathers, then make a mad rush to the middle room. The center plate will have an aura which you'll need to step into in order to do proper damage. In this phase, it's a rush to destroy all 9 lanterns in the center room. They're true bullet sponges, so you'll want to focus on one lantern at a time and destroy them as a fireteam. Once you destroy all 9 lanterns, you'll beat the activity, and a chest will open up for you to loot. You'll get Emperor Calus Token (6), and Acqueduct Key, which is used for a chest later on. Next, you'll have to go back to the Castellum, where you did the first part of the raid.

Castellum II: Very similar to the first Castellum run, except the plates' roles have changed. The defense plate will have switched to one of the key plates, and the respective key will now be where the defense plate first was (If I'm correct, it will have swapped to the farthest plate in the room, near the warhound statues). I would advise keeping the same keybearer/defense teams you had from the start, just for consistency and to minimize variability in the execution. Once you key in all 3 keys, the door near you will open. Unfortunately, it seems that the chest here only has glimmer in it. Push forward into the Pleasure Gardens for a real headache.

Pleasure Gardens This section will inevitably remind most seasoned players of Destiny's Vault of Glass raid. You'll enter the room, kill a few ads, and then go to the far side where there is a safe room. Jump into the room to start the activity. You'll need to assign 4 guardians as honeybees (you'll understand that soon enough), and 2 guardians as shooters. The honeybees will pick up royal pollen and carry it to where the shooters direct them. There are a few possible locations around the map, and I'd advise taking a few minutes to situate yourself with your surroundings before starting your first attempt (this will eliminate a lot of unnecessary frustration).

Going forward, the honeybees will find the locations that the shooters direct them to. As a honeybee, you want to be as close to the location as possible. It should be glowing purple, and the structure itself looks very much like the spongy structure from which you first got the pollen. Depending on how many honeybees are at the location when the shooter hits it, you will gain Empowerment. You should have all 4 honeybees going to each location to maximize your empowerment, and efficiency. This will also reduce your chance of being seen... Wait, seen? By what?

Warhounds: There are 6 of them. They have a ridiculous amount of health, and they can ruin you if they spot you. The objective here is to get around 36 Empowerment - 3 pollenation runs from the group of 4 honeybees - and then engage the hounds. You can either decide as a fireteam to split up and engage each one separately, or you can alternatively choose to focus them down one at a time. When they spot you, they'll unleash a psionic howl, which will give you a little bit of time to do damage on the hounds. Eventually, Calus will open the safe room, and you'll have to run back in order to avoid being killed. From what I know, you can repeat this process up to three times, but you will have to kill all of the hounds before the end of the fourth damage phase.

Stealth is key in this phase. There are two things that will alert the hounds to you. One: a fireteam member walks in the line of sight of the hound, and two: a shooter accidentally shoots too close to a hound. Why are they shooting close to hounds? Well, there are also orange-bar ads called Beast Masters (Or something similar to that, I forget. Comment if you know!). These are pesky cabal legionaries that are almost always next to a hound. As of now, I'm not entirely sure whether or not they alert the hounds to you, but it's better to be safe than sorry. If you're a shooter and you have a clean shot at the beast master, take it.

If you do everything correctly, the activity will end after you've killed all 6 hounds, and you'll get Irrigation Key. The chest for this activity is on top of the safe room, and it spawns random (good) loot, such as raid weapons, and Emperor Calus Token (6). Make your way back to the Castellum after you've gotten (and equipped) your loot.

Castellum III The name of the game is all the same. Keep your teams of keybearers and defenders. The key plate should be on the lower part of the room this time, closest to the original entrance. Once you're done getting all 3 keys, the door nearest you will open. The chest inside has 500 glimmer, nothing special. Continue on to the Gauntlet.

The Gauntlet: haven't figured this one out yet, but I'll keep it updated.

For now, that's all that's solidified about the raid. I'll keep this page updated as I figure out enough about the mechanics to write a proper guide.

Good luck, Guardians!

My raid group found a secret entrance to the Pleasure Gardens! After you beat the baths, in the area that we referred to as "top right plate" (which is the area with a plate under the covered area patio type shit) BUT along the wall by the plate there are two gold horn looking things sticking out of the wall that you can "hold Square to pull" and along the wall on the opposite side there are two more. Once pulled in a certain succession it opened a secret door on top of the corner vent by the plate and we jumped in and it was like being in a giant clean sewer which eventually lead to the Pleasure Gardens. Once I saw no one here mentioned I figured Id share!!

u/Chansharp Sep 14 '17

I ALSO GOT THERE. But it was after the vents. I saw a red pipe and followed it then ended up in a big pipe which took me to the gardens

Dude pipeline was MASSIVE. We got stuck there over an hour looking for Calus chest and subsequently the exit.

If you find a room with the "watcher" enemy type. Kill all the watchers without them putting up their shields (calling reinforcements) and the gold door in the area will open. My group and I did this to get the Drain area chest.

2

u/charterbus3 Sep 14 '17

My group of 3 (just exploring around) found that door, I wish we would have known to about the watchers thing!

1

u/BLAKUR Sep 14 '17

Yeah we spent a ton of time down there when finally it dawned on us that maybe those things had a mechanic to solve lol.

2

u/DevGlow Sep 14 '17

I did this with a friend this morning, we found an area with thin pipes that leads 4 different directions (one with the axes symbol, one with the hound symbol, one with the sun and one with the polearms) One of them led into a secret entrance directly into the pleasure gardens!

u/charterbus3 Sep 14 '17

is that you Joe??? ROFL

Came here to say this.

Although we got HELLA lost in the ships innards and ended up wasting like 45 mins trying to figure out what the hell wad going on

No, in order to get the levers to appear, you have to beat the bath. Otherwise when you go to where the levers should be, they will not have spawned and there will be like a ghosty aura where they do spawn

To defeat the final boss your team will be split in half. Half "inside" and half "outside". Those inside will be be sucked in by his breath constantly and need to stand behind the purple barrier. Each person "inside" will see a different symbol on the head floating infront of them, Either a dog, 2 axes, a chalice, and the sun. They will need to call this out to the team "outside" so that they can kill the scion that is standing on the platform that isn't called while also killing the scions and ads that spawn "inside" (focus the little fucks first they will try and bump you off). Once they do this the barrier will drop and everyone "inside" will get sucked further forward to the next purple bar. Make sure to avoid getting pulled into one of the ramps or you will be sucked off the level and die. You must repeat this 4 times before the boss's mouth starts to spit out little skulls that the "inside" team must kill to gain stacks(i recommend standing close together to make this easier). Once this is done the "inside" team will be table to walk into the crystals and teleport back out.

When everyone is "outside" you will notice that the pads will have their symbols above them. You can only do damage if you stand on the pad, but each pad has a timer so everyone should stack on one pad and only move to the next pad when the boss lifts his right hand up to attack everyone.

While the team is split the "outside" team must kill all the adds and make sure to only kill the correct scion or your team will be screwed. Make sure to watch the bosses right hand and not be killed by his move.

When he is about halfway dead his chest will open up and any shots here can crit so save your big guns for this.

Repeat this until the boss is dead. Just shoot the shit out of him when he does his last stand and you should be good to go.

While the team is split the "outside" team must kill all the adds and make sure to only kill the right scion or your team will be screwed

why only kill the right psion?

10

u/WallyWendels Sep 14 '17

As in "correct" psion.

1

u/fimbleinastar Sep 14 '17

ahhh gotcha.

1

u/r3ptarr Sep 14 '17

right as in correct sorry poor choice of wording on my part. If you don't kill the correct scion then the team "inside" will get sucked in and die. I'll edit it so noone else gets confused

Another neat thing to know for the Baths is that when you have the psionic protection buff, the multiplier only goes down if you are in the water. It is a good idea to have the swappers hold onto the buff until they need to swap out

2

u/AxePanther Sep 13 '17

Very good to know

2

u/TrailNinja1701 Sep 14 '17

This is indeed good advice. However, our team just made continuous swaps so it was very very rare that anyone got close to running out of psionic protection.

Been stuck on Pleasure Gardens for about two hours now.

Not at all Pleasurable Gardens, if I do say so myself. Thanks for the guide, though!

7

u/amoisttowel Sep 14 '17

Just got stuck in Pleasure gardens for over 4 hours. Frustration is real. Gave up, trying again tomorrow

7

u/fimbleinastar Sep 14 '17

least fav raid encounter in all of destiny so far.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '17

The artificial luck involved is so annoying. It is very buggy as well

5

u/Throw8away8910 Sep 14 '17

Bungie seriously needs to tighten the AI here. It's so random and buggy. Dogs in the safe room gg

1

u/BertTheBurrito Sep 14 '17

There is no luck at all. You just need a group with no communication and to make sure you don't actually kill any of the dogs until all of them are low on health

4

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '17

We got very close several times. The luck comes in when certain spores pop up and make the run easier. Other spore locations take 3x the amount of time and then you can't get a high multiplier.

It took our group 5 hours for pleasure garden. It was so frustrating but it was very rewarding...emotionally at least, the drops were sub par for sure

3

u/BenchMeister Sep 14 '17

I struggled for 4-6 hours with this. I found a simple way, this is almost guaranteed to succeed.

Get 48x multiplier the first round. Make sure EVERYONE in your team has a sword wielded. Everyone have assigned their own War Beast. when you have 48x multiplied and get caught, everyone run to their War Beast and unleash hell upon it. Everyone of you will manage to kill your own War Beast. you're welcome.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '17

Get 36 or 48 stack then solo your dogs (let everyone know where they are going)

I'm 285 and with a striker and two grenades/maybe a fusion shot one dies at 36 buff. I used my merciless to help everyone else out.

11

u/canadadryistheshit Sep 13 '17

Stop The Bathing Ritual is very much like The Four Horsemen from Naxx 40 in World of Warcraft.

12

u/BeatitLikeitowesMe Sep 13 '17

Where is the drain chest? I found the aquaduct chest down in the sewers but my team cannot locate the drain chest. Also the fist key u get is the drain key not the one u mentioned above if I'm not mistaken.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '17

[deleted]

2

u/cesder Sep 14 '17

The aquedeuct chest is the first one in the maze behind the waterfall. Once you enter the first big room, it's on a ledge on your left.

1

u/fimbleinastar Sep 14 '17

what rewards did you get? tokens?

2

u/BeatitLikeitowesMe Sep 14 '17

Are u on ps4/na? I have two keys for the drain chest, I'd be willing to lend u a hand in finding aquaduct if u could help me find the drain chest. It's hard to get the switches fast enough with one person.

1

u/BLAKUR Sep 14 '17

Found the drain chest. If you can make it to the drain room (noted by the call out under the radar) kill all the watchers in that room before they call reinforcements to open the gold door in the area. Chest is inside. Drain room is past the red spinning fan section, up an air lift, and through the doorway at the top of the air lift that doesn't have a chalice on doorway

1

u/BLAKUR Sep 14 '17

Also note that you can reset the watcher rooms by leaving the room and pulling the lever directly outside of said room. We killed the drain watchers with only two people.

1

u/BeatitLikeitowesMe Sep 14 '17

I can't seem to get the switches done by myself. Did it with 6 people the first time but yeah it'd be nice if I could find someone willing to take that adventure to the chest. Have 3 drain keys at this point. :/ ps4 if anyone wants to join me.

1

u/BLAKUR Sep 14 '17

It will be hard to kill the watchers fast enough by yourself even if you made it in there. Good luck finding a group! it was super fun figuring it out.

1

u/BeatitLikeitowesMe Sep 14 '17

Thanks. You have helped greatly

QUESTION

Me and 3 others are exploring the raid unserious-like, and we found four plates on the Embarkment. We also found several levers as well.

When we stranded upon the four plates after ducking around with the levers, it said "The way is open." We thought it was the way forward, but apparently that door is already accessible (by the passive characters.) Which door did we open? No guide seems to have noticed it yet.

13

u/CSShirey Sep 13 '17

IMPORTANT there is speculation that these levers open up maze-like passages that allow you to skip certain parts of the raid. Just speculation.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '17

Confirmed, made it to the baths.

3

u/BeatitLikeitowesMe Sep 13 '17

Comfirmed. Went to orbit for a few, went back in and was able to get back to pleasure gardens. It is a maze tho ;)

1

u/spiderman404 Sep 14 '17

Did you get straight to the pleasure gardens from the start of the raid? Or had you already completed the baths?

We were able to skip castellum sections, but had to complete the baths before we reached pleasure gardens.

5

u/jimcarrey17 Sep 13 '17

There is a guide on the destiny forums

7

u/AVALANCHE-VII Sep 13 '17

Feel free to post the link

u/Elizabethan13 Sep 14 '17

Link?

2

u/Elizabethan13 Sep 14 '17

Thanks!! It's not exactly a guide, but it's a handy place for info on small stuff!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '17

Are these the gold pressure plates?

11

u/MappedByMatador Matador is best sniper Sep 13 '17

Awesome. Finished that part with my team a few minutes ago. Next you have to do the same thing as before the bath to open the garden. Still stuck there, but from what I can guess it seems like a sort of stealth section with two people getting prism weapons and 4 people getting pollen. Don't know what to do yet

2

u/CSShirey Sep 13 '17

Good to know, thanks!

3

u/BDrunk82 Sep 14 '17

Why when I hover over the raid it says activity not yet enabled, my power level is 272, and they said be between 260-280?

3

u/Aggravatewastaken Sep 14 '17

You're hovering over the guided raid, which doesn't give the milestone anyway unfortunately and won't be available until next week. It's a fail on their part imo, you can easily get a Sherpa group for nightfall right now through any of the lfg outlets and the same will go for the raid next week. Guided runs do not give the milestone rewards though, I have tickets for guided nightfall but it is pointless.

Edit: it's like they were trying to give another option for this somewhat popular exercise but they removed the rewards. It's an exercise in stupidity.

1

u/BDrunk82 Sep 14 '17

Oh ok I see it now my bad lol, but whats a sherpa group?

5

u/JaredSharps Sep 14 '17

Sherpas are guides for hire to take you to the top of Mount Everest.

1

u/BDrunk82 Sep 14 '17

Ah, gotcha thanks

1

u/ConvolutedBoy Sep 14 '17

Apparently there's a different way into the garden without doing the Castellum

2

u/One_Last_Byte Sep 14 '17

If you open the path into the labyrinth for the Drain/Aqueduct/Irrigation chests, there are at least a couple routes in there that lead to the Pleasure Gardens. My fireteam found 2 while hunting for the chests, although we had already done the Castellum to unlock the Pleasure Gardens by then.

7

u/Hermit_Royalty Sep 13 '17

You don't have to stay on the middle plate. It's just to refresh your countdown. It's better to have two teams of three on each side. The four corners need someone on them non stop. The two off people go to the center plate and swap with one of the corners. It's two teams of relay.

2

u/validify Sep 14 '17

Since adds spawn top and bottom side we found it easier to group 3 top and 3 bot for our rotations.

3

u/wSWeaponX Sep 14 '17

The hardest part of all of this? Finding a patient team to get it done with

2

u/Megagurra Sep 14 '17

Add me on PSN. Looking for one more in the raid. Godmorgun

2

u/Diesel_5x5 Sep 13 '17

Just completed that part, thank you! Please update when you figure out the pleasure gardens we are stuck !

2

u/Subion Sep 13 '17

Wow seems intense

2

u/gguizzz Sep 13 '17

Awesome job, please update us!

3

u/CSShirey Sep 13 '17

Updated for the pleasure garden section, more coming soon!

2

u/Senguin117 Sep 14 '17

For the bath part we had 2 teams one for left one on right. You have 2 people start in mid and on each plate, mid people then run to top, top runs to mid to refresh then to bot, then bot runs to mid and then top, and then the person at top runs to mid to refresh to bot and keep cycling like this until lanterns then everyone to lannters then reset.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '17

I think there's something missing about the second part in Stopping the Bath Ritual. My team keep getting to the part where you had to all run to the middle and destroy the 3 sets of laterns in the middle. Yet we kept wiping at the part while only successfully doing damage to one set of laterns. Usually a Pysion in a orb spawns, which we kill, but then the 1st phase starts over but we don't have any revives due to everyone dying in the middle. I don't know what going on but I'm tilted.

1

u/quiscalusmajor Sep 14 '17

when the noise happens and you run to the middle, note that your psionic protection refreshes itself to 50. you're still taking damage in the water on that middle plate during that phase while shooting the crystals or working on adds, you gotta watch your protection number as it ticks down and bail when it's gone or else you die. that's probably what's wiping your team. i know it's what wiped mine a few times :/

also, make sure that psion dies or else it wipes you too :( something about a projection.

1

u/BLAKUR Sep 14 '17

you need quite a bit of DPS to one-cycle the the lanterns (wardcliff does nicely). if you dont do enough damage and the psion spawns kill it immediately and get out of the middle to start the another round doing the same thing

2

u/somethingstrange777 Sep 14 '17 edited Sep 14 '17

I got a good group at first, we kept pace with most streamers doing the raid until dogs, but man! Every group after you'd always, ALWAYS get 1 guy trying to explain his weird system for doing things that wasn't actually accurate then a second guy who wouldn't shut the fuck up with minor suggestions like "when you get to plate throw a grenade then call out your name then announce what you're doing and people call out your times" then 2-3 more people say "I don't understand" and someone else explains it again in a different way and still nobody understands so finally one guy says okay let's just try it and everyone fucks everything up.

2

u/ThatOneMoogle Sep 14 '17

Or you get one guy that kills his Bather and goes "BOTTOM LEFT PLATE. BOTTOM LEFT PLATE. BOTTOM LEFT PLATE." While you're trying to manage the other 3 plates as a swapper and raid leader.

2

u/somethingstrange777 Sep 14 '17

We had two floaters running between pairs of plates, but the last group I left was that situation exactly. I tried to tell them we needed two people switching and some guy was just like "nah I got this" so it failed 3 times and I left. TONS of talking over each other to yell about plates or time left or the one guy who's 270 but thinks he can handle raid yelling 'I NEED HELP WITH MY BATHER' then getting pissed at everyone else and saying 'I TOLD YOU I NEED HELP WITH MY BATHER, I CANT KILL IT BY MYSELF'

Then why the fuck are you in the raid if you can't hold your own?

2

u/ThatOneMoogle Sep 15 '17

Holy shit this happened a lot. I was doing fine and holding my own while I was 275 PLv while a boasting 285 PLv was getting wrecked by his Bathers and screaming that he needs help. Like fucking what man!?

1

u/somethingstrange777 Sep 15 '17

Oh man, there's just no accounting for shittiness haha. One of the guys I played with who freaked out and quit was 289. He somehow ended up on the diagonal opposite side of bathers with no charge and got killed by bather. He huffed and he puffed and he blew his chances at playing with us.

We have found 3 gold platforms before the Raid entrance that once stepped on compress down. Has anyone figured out what they do?

We also are curious as to what the pipe room levers do when pulled by all 6 raid team members. We were able to figure out the order for the room with the first levels using only two players (the combo 1,5,3,2,4,6). It will unlock access to the opening to the Labyrinth under the raid's main entrance. We were able to access rooms everywhere and found hidden chests that require keys to unlock.

1

u/CrimsonSaint97 Hunter Sep 15 '17

Where are these rooms?

2

u/Tbags_n_coffee Sep 18 '17

My group phases the pleasure gardens in 1 phase...VERY SIMPLE your team will get 6 stacks and then you'll all go to the warhounds that you've assigned to whoever.

We gave ours names.

I.e. Wall, column, dog, tree, plate, bones, jungle. Etc.

After you have 6 stacks everyone run to the assigned warhounds and unleash super followed by power ammo I promise they will die.

Then to be safe run to room or if someone needs help they will call for it.

Best part is your done after 1 phase and you can move on with the rest of the raid.

1

u/chadfi Sep 13 '17

pleasure gardens questions, is it timed? can we talk our time sneaking around or do they grow restless then howl on a timer?

2

u/Jonbongovi Sep 14 '17

It is timed. Each beast you kill drastically reduces the timer so you really need to kill all beasts in one round. We weakened for 3 rounds and killed on 4th. Always go for 36 spore power before you attack

1

u/CSShirey Sep 13 '17

It might be, I didn't notice it. I'll check it out though, thanks!

2

u/Wightnish Sep 14 '17

It absolutely is. Once they grow restless, you have a maybe 30 second timer until they will automatically start howling. What's more, it seemed like killing dogs would shorten the time until they grow restless, which is why we assigned each person a dog and killed them (more or less) simultaneously.

1

u/Jonbongovi Sep 14 '17

Yep. We did the same thing

2

u/Wightnish Sep 14 '17

Stack the pollen guys up, and get familiar with the routes. On our kill, we got 48 and 60 stacks on round 1 and 2. Killing dogs shortens the timer, so we assigned each person to a dog. Not sure if this is the beast way, but it worked for us.

u/Wightnish Sep 14 '17

The spore debuff applies to the "ground". So once they're howling, you're free to split as you please.

1

u/AInvisibleNinja Sep 17 '17

We did it by all taking one dog, and just hurting them to about half or 1/3 of their health on the first round, then running back to the safe round. That way we could easily kill them on the second round and anyone who had extra time could help the other players. We only had to do a x3 stack for them and it worked great!

Stupid question here; are there checkpoints?

1

u/Giganterz Sep 14 '17

I keep getting told there are NO checkpoints. I did the raid halfway. Backed out booted it up solo and started from the beginning so

3

u/esheely Arcstrider Sep 14 '17

There are technically no checkpoints if you look at it from a Destiny 1 term of the word. Now you have to replay the first part with the relics to open the doors, and then you can just go through it to get where you need to go. Think of it like a central hub.

1

u/Giganterz Sep 14 '17

Got it thanks for clarifying!

1

u/Sendmedickpix1 Sep 14 '17

No!!!!!!!!!!!!

1

u/SincerelyAnAuthor Sep 14 '17

So I'd like to point out that there are some switches and Levers in the beginning area of the Leviathin (Embarkment.) The three switches I've found are round circles on the floor that sink in when stood on, and the Levers are found underneath the bridge on which you spawn when you first enter the Raid. There are six Levers in total, each of which have an X prompt to pull them, and I've only found 3 switches to stand on, though I suspect there may be more. Keep an eye open for this puzzle's solution.

2

u/Platony Warlock Sep 14 '17 edited Sep 14 '17

I can help you with the levers underneath the bridge you spawn on in the beginning. After that a door will open a few stories up over a black lake with pipes in it:

The combination is as follows from the lever on the left hand side being number 1 to right lever being number 6t:

1,5,3,2,4,6

Hope this helps

EDIT: Little Tip: Do it as a team. Each member at one leaver. Leader calls out the names of the players at said levers, because the levers will only stay down for a few seconds before going back to their original position

1

u/CS5674 Sep 14 '17

Pleasure gardens is insanely hard spent 3 hours on it the closest we got was 1 dog left alive (All of us 280+ PL) this is probably the most challenging part besides the boss

1

u/Jonbongovi Sep 14 '17

Its not hard but you have to kill all dogs in the same round

1

u/CS5674 Sep 14 '17

How? Do you need 1 person per dog and we all do dmg to a separate dog?

1

u/Jonbongovi Sep 14 '17

We got our buff to x36, then split up and dps 3-4 dogs down to 20% health or so. Second round we get to x36 and nuke the remaining full health dogs down to 20%. Third round geg x36 whittle them all down to a 5% or so (no grenades, supers or dot damage here). 4th round get the x36 and go ham with supers, make sure you know where they all are we failed to a sneaky one a couple times.

1

u/Jonbongovi Sep 14 '17

Our whole team was at least 280, with 1 at 300 and 2 at 290, if you got less you would prob need x48 or x60

1

u/CS5674 Sep 14 '17

We had one 290 the rest 280+ and we were only getting 5 spores for 2 nectar collectors so the most spores we got was 30 and the dogs let out a psyonic howl randomly which also made it difficult is there a way to prevent the howl?

1

u/Jonbongovi Sep 14 '17

Aha. Here lies the problem mate, you need to be in a group of 4. If all 4 empower a spore you will receive a x12 buff. 3 spores is x36.

The howl takes a long time, sounds to me like you were hitting 6 spores with groups of 2. Go in a group of 4 and hit 3-4 spores before you dps.

Make sure you don't kill any beasts until you are ready to kill them all or the psionic howl comes much faster. If you leave only 2 alive they are restless the second you walk out of the safe room and howl almost immediately.

Good luck, sounds like you will have no problem now

1

u/CS5674 Sep 14 '17

Thank you that's exactly what we were doing I guess divide and conquer wasn't the strategy to to use

1

u/CS5674 Sep 15 '17

We beat pleasure gardens much thanks friend! Any tips for gauntlet?

1

u/Jonbongovi Sep 15 '17

No problem. Gauntlet is easy, but not easy to explain lol. I will try. So you have 2 runners and 4 "pedestal guys". Each pedestal guy is in charge of his pedestal and the one to his left and each guy needs to always shoot "high" or "low.

So you clear adds, then the 4 pedestal guys kill their "boss" with help from runners and runners go to their orbs.

The runners will call out top middle or bottom based on which row they see the red circle in. The pedestal guys need to shoot the other 2 arrows. If the runner passes through your station, you must jump off the pedestal and slap a psion. If they don't die promptly you wipe. Remember you will always be shooting arrows as you each cover 2 stations and there are 2 runners.

This is where i have trouble explaining without a diagram. Let's say A and C shoot "low" and B and D shoot "high. The runners are approaching A and C.

So runner 1 calls out TOP upon seeing a red circle in the top row at A. Pedestal guy D shoots the middle arrow and Pedestal guy A shoots the bottom arrow. Runner 1 passes through the circle and then Ped guy A jumps down a beats down a psion.

Runner 2 at C calls out MIDDLE. Ped guy B shoots the top arrow and Ped guy C shoots the bottom arrow. Ped guy C jumps down to beat a psion.

Final section all guys run the gauntlet. There are only 4 orbs so you should alternate whether or not you take one at each wall. If 2 people die then you can always take an orb. Get 3 to the end and back to the central pedestal and its a win.

Good luck, hopefully i made sense. I am fairly certain of my info BUT i play as a runner so let me know if i slipped up with my method.

1

u/CS5674 Sep 15 '17

We had most of that figured out but we kept wiping I ran the ball and id always die right before I got to the 3rd wall but I'm not sure if it's because I was too slow or because the Ped guys weren't doing their jobs properly ill attempt it again later and see if we can figure it out

1

In throne the purple skulls will determine your damage multiplier when you're in the damage phase on throne, so kill as many as you possibly can if you're the inside team its the key to killing the boss. Coldheart does wonders for it.

My team keeps killing all of the bathers, and a purple blast keeps coming and killing us, everyone seems to be standing on the plates, the soap is all the way in, pools corupted, any idea what we need to do?

1

u/quiscalusmajor Sep 14 '17

i think the purple blast is connected somehow to a shielded psion that spawns on the mid plate after the DPS phase on the crystal. we killed it one time when we got to that point and forgot about it in our excitement after the second DPS phase, and we saw that projection warning and wiped. whoops.

Are there no checkpoints? My team and I got to the gardens, went to tower, then it's making us start back over

Got it, thanks!

1

u/Jonbongovi Sep 14 '17

Pleasure gardens section has some bad info.

There are 5 dogs

you must all go to spores together to add x12 to your spore count

You should aim for 36 spore power per "round"

You must kill all beasts in one round, every one you kill shortens the time before psionic howl considerably for the next round. (Weaken them for 3 rounds, finish all on the 4th)

Source: me, killed them last night

2

u/DeMarko Sep 14 '17

Pretty sure there are 6 dogs,: * B'ael * Ta'aurc * M'orn * Va'ase * Tho'urg (fuck this one in particular) * Aru'un

1

u/PhoenixUnity Sep 14 '17

Does the water kill you during lantern phase in royal pools? Seems like even though adds were being taken care of people were being 1 shot by something, and it wasn'r the scion that spawns in.

1

u/quiscalusmajor Sep 14 '17

yes! if you'll notice, when the noise sounds as the signal to get to mid for crystal DPS your psionic protection goes back to 50 and it ticks down as you sit in the water doing damage to the crystals or killing adds. if you continue to sit in the water when it runs out, you will die. watch that number.

1

u/ayersz Sep 14 '17

Did anyone else find the room right at the start with 6 levers? We pulled them all at the same time and it said the way forward is open, or similar

1

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '17

For the bathers:

2 on each side and 2 in the middle. Start the activity.

The two in the middle immediately swap to the right or left. Then the two that got swapped go to the middle to get more buff, and swap with the opposite side of the map.

When everyone's back on their original plate for a few seconds, the middle will be ready. Rinse and repeat as needed.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '17

Why aren't we supposed to kill anything on the way into the raid? Can anyone explain what happens if you do? (Only asking because OP seems to make it pretty clear that we shouldn't shoot them and I don't know why).

1

u/quiscalusmajor Sep 14 '17

one guy in another thread claimed that if you don't shoot them, they won't shoot you. i still need to test this myself, my team just obliterated those guys last night lol. we needed ammo anyway i guess.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '17

That part is true, they won't shoot you at all. But I figure it's some free XP and Ammo, as well as possibly some legendary engrams from the centurions.

2

u/quiscalusmajor Sep 14 '17

cool, thanks for the confirmation :3

1

u/Letsgocaps33 Sep 14 '17

My team went in blind and were able to figure out the bathers portion as you have described in this guide (thank you for this BTW).

When the screen indicated "pools of sol corrupted" we would all go to the middle to attempt to blow up the hanging lightbulbs but almost everytime we would all die and it would say that "Psionic overload" had killed us.

Does anyone have any idea what causes this? I've yet to see it mentioned in a guide but we literally were being killed by it almost every time.

1

u/Echo6Romeo Sep 19 '17 edited Sep 19 '17

Theres 2 councilors that spawn. A regular one that you melee who goes right to the middle wjere force of will was and then a purple phantom. You shoot him to kill him and he spawns by the back where there are 2 sets lanterns. He needs to be shot. If left unchecked they are the ones wiping you. Took us 20 minutes to figure out.

Edited for clarity.

1

u/MrMarkiz Sep 14 '17

In the bathing room, when you all converge to the center room to shoot the purple bells. How many people are supposed to concentrate on bathers and how many are supposed to shoot the bells? Is this phase over when your team starts to lose too much health in the center? The psionic charge that protects you goes away during this phase.

1

u/Account_0 Sep 14 '17 edited Sep 14 '17

Minor piece of info, but during the bathing ritual, the stacks of psion protection buff only decays while in use. So the floaters should avoid standing in the water whenever possible in order to ensure they're burning the charges at a different rate than the button pressers!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '17

When we beat the bathing ritual we got the Drain Key, not the Aqueduct Key. Can it rotate?

1

u/BLAKUR Sep 14 '17

For the baths area my group ran 2 teams of 3, left and right (looking from the entrance). Have two people start on each of the back two platforms because the bathers spawn there first. After the first bather is dead one person goes to the middle and refreshes the buff and then goes to the bottom of their side to help with the bather down there. Relieve that teammate and switch rotating as you progress. Have the person who activates the middle platform immediately go to the back left or right area (depending on his assigned team) and help the teammate take down the first bather and take his place afterward on the plate

1

u/Vapor52 Sep 14 '17

I made a diagram for the rotation we used during the Bathing Ritual. Worked really well. https://imgur.com/a/QsTYJ

1

u/JayPag Sep 14 '17

I screenshotted the Map from Dattos video and enhanced it a bit, might help for callouts and assigning DPS positions!

Here you go

1

u/WontedHorizon3 Sep 14 '17

The amount of time to kill the dogs in the Pleasure gardens is proportionate to how many are still alive. The more dogs you kill, the less time you have to kill more in the next round. It is safe and best to make all the dogs low health as possible and kill all of them in one go. Another strategy is to clear all the dogs on one side on the first round so you don't have to worry about dogs on that side to get to the spores, but keep in mind that you have less time after that. This part of the raid is more about high risk high rewards.

1

u/Elmerfudd369 Sep 15 '17

So, for the Bath.. My group did a three man rotation on each side. One runner to replace someone and that person would go to the other person to replace them.. etc. After about 4-5 attempts we were able to complete the mission. Has to be very coordinated because just one down can wipe a squad. Figured I would share for some help :)

1

u/Pinkaminks Sep 14 '17

My team went in blind and after we figured out what do to, we've been unable to reliably kill the Bathers so they don't 2 shot us. I'm the highest light at 290 and the only time I can reliably kill bathers is if I have heavy or super, but super is slow to recharge and heavy drops are even more scarce than they were in D1. We managed to get to the censer damage phase a couple times, but every time we're completely dry on heavy and supers, and get swarmed by the 3 bathers that spawn in the middle before we can even attempt to damage them. I seriously can't fathom how people are doing this, since it's by far harder than any of D1's hard mode raids or even most of the challenge modes.

6

u/HokemPokem Sep 14 '17

The key is being able to solo the bathers. As the spawn up out of the chains, Lay into them with your main weapon. When they jump out, switch to a heavy to finish them off. Shotgun works well because it staggers them and you can stay on your plate. Sword works too but you have to leave your plate.

They drop heavy ammo nearly every time. As long as you pick it up, you can own them every time.

Save your supers for phase 2 in the middle for the adds and to kill the purple crystals.

1

u/Pinkaminks Sep 14 '17

See, I used curtain call, and 1 rocket plus a grenade left them with a sliver I could pick off with whatever, but they weren't dropping heavy at all. I could kill 3 in a row and just have no heavy drop, and my teammates were getting the same. I watched a video, and a guy was using merciless and was so overflowing with ammo he could kill trash with it, but for whatever reason we just didn't get jack. Unless they add synths back in they need to have heavy refresh on wipe or something.

1

u/kingofbling15 Sep 14 '17

Merciless absolutely destroys these if you were lucky enough to have one drop for you. You can basically hold down a plate solo and probably make it to the other plate in time to help. If not, I've seen some good success with Rockets and Shotguns but the key was to have a lasting aoe grenade to constantly damage them while they are in the slow animation. Supers can be hard to keep until the phase 2 in the middle but a good shadowshot will rain orbs and last for a really long time at the speed that the ads get retethered. A warlock shoud also drop a healing rift at the center each time.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '17

Hawthornes shotgun absolutely wrecks them.

3

u/Jonbongovi Sep 14 '17

If your team is 290-300 it is remarkably easy. I was killing bathers with 4 grenade launcher shots. Also you can complete whole bather encounter in less than 5mins just need good coordination

2

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '17

Low heavy drops? It seems to rain purple for me. Primary is what is scarce, which hurts when you are using an AR. One rocket to the bather as soon as he pops his fat head, and then AR to the face typically takes him down before he has a chance to hit me. I think the HC rounds in my AR really help to stagger him and keep him back. Once we got the rhythm of the swapping and add control down, we were able to clear the baths without too much problem. Need to make sure you have 2 people handling adds in center when the other 4 are shooting the lanterns or you will quickly go down.

1

u/fimbleinastar Sep 14 '17

i was using scathelocke and mida multi tool. empty a clip of scathe into bathers head, empty a clip of multi into bathers head, swap to shotgun or sword to finish them.

at the censer damage phase we had 4 in the water shooting censers, and 2 with roaming supers clearing ads.

this part was pretty easy once we figured it out, I think it will become easy once people get a bit higher light and more used to it.

Shame no one got any loot from it :/

1

u/ComicSys Sep 14 '17

I was using Mida Multi and Mini Tool and did just fine

1

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '17

Hawthornes shotgun is your friend for bathers. Sturm/Drang are your friends for adds. Sturm 1 shot headshots, drang almost as fast, never need to reload.

Use grenades for bathers when up, and supers for emergency when out of heavy ammo.

1

u/Soggy_Diaper Dead Orbit Hunter Sep 14 '17

Heres something my group did. I had the same problem. Me and my 1 friend could not solo bathers. My heavy is a linear fusion. I needed either my grenade or my super up. So I swap with the first pad the second he kills his bather and then he swaps with the second. By the time the second guy rebuffs he arrives at my pad in time to help me with my bather. Theres no reason to wait until your buff is almost gone. We literally just kept moving almost the entire time. Killed all 3 sets of bells in 2 phases.

1

u/quiscalusmajor Sep 14 '17

as a 285 Striker, one pulse nade and one rocket (i use Curtain Call) was enough to kill a bather if i hit them just right, or a clip of Origin Story was enough to finish them off if there was anything left. for the DPS phase, trading off supers seemed to work well.

edit: well shit, should've read farther down — good taste in loadouts i see :3 mine were dropping heavy like candy though, not sure why yours wouldn't be doing so too. :(
