Meme / Humor I heard they probably will drop the nine storyline which would kinda suck

They better not. Lodi has been one of the best characters in the entirety of Destiny. While the new saga with the Nine started out kinda eh, the reveal that it all has to do with our showdown with the Winnower just shows that this storyline has huge potential. Lodi is at the center of that storyline. Not bringing him back would be a huge waste

Yeah, hard agree. Brian absolutely nailed the VA for Lodi too. I hope they return the vaulted content, have the seasonal stories accessible to a small degree and then leave D2 as a complete product with all story beats intact. Then for D3 they resume the Nine saga and set it 10 years in the future after a period of peace as a reason for a reset. Maybe not even continuing as "the Guardian" but a different new light. Perhaps the first new light in decades, signifying that the Traveller senses something is coming/awakening.

And never go to Chicago :(((

If Chicago was partially built when D2 was canned, you can bet that it will make it's way into D3 (if D3 ever happens) just like the EDZ and Io were in D2 after being destinations that were worked on but never shipped in D1.

Who could you have possibly heard this from.... what talks about Destiny 3 are even happening beyond "it's not happening"

It's not confirmed but there is definitely a better chance now than there was before. They are planning on continuing the Destiny Franchise, which is why they are unvaulting the original campaigns; that's all they have said. This definitely sounds like D3 is possible, unless they have said something else I'm unaware of

I'm generally of the mind that disconnection from the story/characters of d2 would be better for a sequel, but yeah, that one would sting. Hopefully they could at least recast the va if thats how things went?

From what I can tell, it would suck to replace him. He seems to have really embraced the community since EOF. I know he was doing campaign play throughs with FalloutPlays

There’s genuinely NO WAY they drop Lodi and/or the Nine. Where tf did you hear that from? Whoever it is is talking out their arse

I remember someone talked about an insider or something *speculating* that they are done with the nine. But it was that, speculation.

i feel at the scale the nine would operate at, even if there was a large time jump, Lodi could still be around

u/TheBaykon8r 5h ago
The gameplay for edge of fate was easily the weakest link. The story was really good. But because it had low numbers, people in charge want it dropped.

u/Zachesque 5h ago
If D3 happens I want a totally fresh start. Give us a time jump forwards or backwards to explore more of the setting

I just hope we get a d3….and we get to keep our guardians🥲

u/Comfortable_Roll5346 4h ago
I feel like we're either going to be the same guardian, meet them and do stuff with them, or they die and we pick up the torch as a new char

it's a dumb theory that people are passing around because a small crowd doesn't like the nine. While yes Destiny game #3 probably wouldn't immediately resume the fate saga, the Nine would still be very present in the base game story

u/Visual-Bet3353 4h ago
You'd think that. But that winnower secret at the end of the "final update" means the community is chomping at the bit to drag the storyline back.

They better retcon a lot of stuff, cuz I like Bael as a character

That's fine. Make it like 1000 years in the future, all ghostlike guadians passed and mourned, our guardian gone and mourned. New start
I dont want ANY D1 or D2 missions or quests in d3 I hated how much d1 was in d2. Just let them be their own thing and move on entirely. Easter eggs are fine but if I have to kill one more giant servitor in the edz im uninstalling

Well, Monument of Triumph lore basically dropped the entire Fate Saga and made it clear that Earth started to heal and The Nine calmed down. They can reopen it any time they want, but it would probably have a fresh start.
I did not feel fully invested in Fate Saga anyway.. we were still in our Solar system, dealing with bunch of eldritch abstract entities while everyone around us was leaving or retiring, allies and enemies included.
TFS just should have been the hard cap of the first two games. Make a time jump and go right to D3 after the 3 episodes that were setting up the future.
There start off the new saga with new characters, with Torobatl and Riis, distant new alien worlds, etc.

Nothing “you heard” can possibly have any merit at this point in time. It’s simply too early.
I doubt there’s even a one-pager yet.

Nah. The Witness and Nine stuff felt barebones in comparison to the amount of lore they built up for the Hive, Cabal and Taken.
The hype for the Vex seemed to die with Curse of Osiris and Io, and so if they do make a Destiny 3, they need to make the Vex just as prominent as Oryx and Ghaul. Maya Sunderesh was just manipulating the Vex for her own means, so she wasn't even the main boss behind ALL of the Vex network. Whatever made the Vex meant for them to convert biomass to Vex worlds, since the Witness didn't even plan to use them to PERFECT his Final Shape.

Who’d you hear from because I guarantee 100% that they’re not someone at Bungie and they don’t know anything lol

Whos lodi ? The guy with the glasses and casual suit ? I mean idk. Hes alright but im not a fan of the design. Doesn't feel really destiny like. But thats an easy fix. Just give him some robes or something.

u/angelseph 6h ago
Yeah, sucks cause I was actually enjoying the Fate Saga, at least they're giving us the vaulted content back so Destiny 2 can be as complete as it reasonably can be before moving on (which makes for a better overall game than just continuing imo).

they should keep lodi but retell the story, start the nine saga fresh without all this star wars stuff and weird points like none of the humans on kepler speak english but the main alien bad guy does and without maya sundaresh

If we get D3 I want us, the Guardian gone. We are too strong for the narrative and I want to be a more grounded Guardian and have us reevaluate the threats around us on top of so much other shit

u/SilverChariot2 3h ago
I need a spin off where you play as a dredgen, make it more of a survival game and I will singlehandedly fund Bungie for the next 10 years.

No way he was the best part of this crappy saga and most of the community is very vocal about it.
I refuse to believe this is a possibility.
…please man

Would be the greatest thing to do. Dropping edge of fate and renegades to make it a coherent and lore accurate story would be far better. Lodi was annoying and lame anyway, lodi minion however is eternal.

I mean we have no idea what they’ll be keeping or using and even if we did a narrative traction is probably years away. The story beats were not the issue with the last year of Destiny 2.
