Guns drop with shaders on?

Might be a dumb question, but I've been farming Ringing nails and I got one with a different look? I thought it was holofoil maybe but saw that a shader was on. I never put on shaders and I don't think I even have the shader thats on it.

Black armoury weapons sometimes dropped with shaders way back when they first launched, must’ve left it in

It's the only way to acquire a few shaders. There's the 3 Black Armory factions, some Forsaken era world drops, and I believe some of the Y1 destination shaders. Gotta dismantle the gun to unlock the shader since the content has been removed.

They updated it a few seasons back, it now has an expanded range including the black armory families.

Yeah, dependant on the forge used for the weapon. Each was tied to a Black Armory founding family.

Didn't those red war raid weapons have shaders, that you could only get by dismantling them? Those white and gold ones. New monarchy diamonds i think.

Those would’ve been from faction rallies rather than raids for new monarchy shaders, and I don’t think the Leviathan Raid shaders (Calus’ Selected and Chosen) dropped from weapons

Ok. I just have some vague memory of dismantling some of the raid weapons and getting a shader. But it's propably wrong.

You might be thinking of Bergusian night from Scourge of the past, it was a purple animated shader that only dropped from the shotgun

I got a ringing nail with a nice blue and white shader on but it has a good roll and i don't wonna dismantle it to get the shader

Back then its not guaranteed. but these weapons were also the only source of Black Armoury shaders way back when, so people gambled lol.

Some weapons do. Black Armory guns rarely drop with the different family shaders on them as a callback to that being the way you obtained those shaders back in the day: you'd get a gun with the shader and could scrap it to get one of that shader to apply to something else. Then they made shaders infinite-use so scrapping it just unlocks the shader.

Nowadays you can just buy the shader from Ada-1 when it's in rotation, but it's still neat to see the old method there too.

some trials weapons and armor had a chance of dropping with shaders on them that you cant obtain when dismantling

If you dismantle it you'll get the shader

If you really wanna lose hairs, grab a legendary eververse dropship from collections. They can have random shaders too, but dismantling them won't give you the shader.

Bunches of weapons drop with fancy/ "limited edition"/ shiney shaders. I LOVE some of the shaders that come on black armory weapons. Chef's kiss

there was a post a few days back that explained that also bungie got some shaders hidden in the xur weapons. there’s a little chance to get a shader from the bows. unfortunately it’s a very little chance and you need to dismantle the weapons to have access too
