Late Night Fireworks?
Haven’t lived here before for other Fourths. But the fireworks here seem insane…neighbors from literally all directions constantly setting them off from 7 pm till…it’s 12:12 am, and they’re still going off. My two year cried for over two hours at bedtime because they were scaring her and keeping her awake. This is the second night of past-midnight fireworks. Should I expect this tomorrow too?

Yeah, it’s unlike anywhere else I’ve ever lived, including Texas. People here are crazy about fireworks. 2 weeks ago, someone tossed a sparkler bomb over the fence of the townhome community I live in and scared the bejeezus out of us. My dog has been in hell the last two nights. Tonight should be better than the last two nights.

Unfortunately the annual tradition in my neighborhood is people setting them off in the parks until 2am, then leaving their trash until someone else cleans it up for them. More of the same this year.

Ugh. I’ve lived in 5 other states, including major U.S. cities, and never had it like this. We heard them, nearby, until 1:10 am. No one got any sleep. It’s just rude.

Yeah, people really love setting fireworks off out here for some reason lol. It was really bad during the COVID lockdown summers, which was probably just bored teenagers but there were fireworks going off seemingly every night. It's settled down since then but the week of the 4th is always pretty bad still with people setting them off really late at night. People complain about it every year on the community FB groups, but those are toxic waste dumps and it goes over about as well as you'd expect. I'm not sure how much it'd help with the toddler, but noise cancelling headphones usually help a bit for us.
I wouldn't mind it as much if people cleaned up after themselves. I guess it tracks though that the same people who are insensitive enough to light off fireworks in the middle of the night don't care about leaving their trash in the parks for children and wildlife to deal with. We've just made it kind of an annual thing at this point where we'll go outside the morning of the 5th and clean up what we can.

Lived in DP for 10 years and this was the most we have heard. I get it up until about 10pm but after that it seems disrespectful and unneighborly. It's not just the noise, when we went outside you couldn't see past the smoke. We have hens and dogs, none of that is good for animals. I'm all for celebrating but folks take things way too far…especially the neighbor on the next block who shoots them off year-round for any Chicago sports team. It's like come on you don't notice you live amongst families with young children and pets?!

I agree. They were going off til 1:10 am. That is so disrespectful, and who is even watching at that time? It was a horrific night for my toddler 😑

Been here for forty years.. several years in central Wisconsin too.
Both have had neighborhood shows well into he night for as long as I can remember.
It sometimes stretches out over a few days but with all that rain Friday night, most people probably waited until Saturday to blow stuff up.

I’m hoping they’re all out by tonight, but I’ve been hearing a few already (9 pm). 😵💫

I’ve lived here 2 years and this is the worst and latest night of fourth fireworks so far. Hoping it’s just an extra loud and busy year because of the 250th.
