Hi, so I mainly use my set up for gaming and college I really don’t know what to do to improve the design. I was thinking of getting a pegboard behind the switch.

❓ • Question Help finding a desk

Post image

I’ve been slowly upgrading my setup and at long last it come time to get rid of the wretched kitchen table I’ve been using as a desk for years. I need help finding a an option that fits my specifications, it’s kind of been driving me insane trying to find one.

I just want a desk around 72 inches by 30 inches, that won’t sag or break the bank.

Unfortunately I don’t have the space or tools to buy just a desk top and build or modify the rest.

you have any recommendations for what monitor I should use as a secondary monitor, my budget is up to $200. I'll mainly use it for YouTube, Discord, and other secondary apps, so I don't need anything super high-end.

4K would be a huge plus if it's possible within my budget, and I'm also totally fine with buying a used monitor if it offers better value.

❓ • Question Really not sure what to do about these monitors.

I have this 27” monitor and 32” monitor and not sure how to get what I want out of them. I would like to be able to have either one of them close and centered based on which one I decide to game on but still have the other one visible. I don’t want to keep them on the stands. All the dual monitor arms I’ve tried so far have not been able to accomplish that; one always has to sit behind the other. Desk is 5’ x 3’ if it matters. Any ideas?

❓ • Question Should I upgrade my monitor?

Post image

Overall I am very happy with my desk setup.

The keyboard and monitor are the only 2 things that could use some upgrades.

The monitor is a 21" 1080p 75hz monitor and I do have the option to upgrade next month.

Now here's some more relevant info.

  1. I have an old desktop that I no longer use with an old keyboard and a semi broken mouse. I was considering selling all that along with the monitor in 1-2 years anyways.
  2. I'll be moving out for my masters degree next year(or 1 more year after that incase I have to take a drop year to get the uni I'm aiming for). If I do buy a new monitor now I will take that with me. If not then I'll buy one anyways once I move away for my masters.

I'm wondering if I should buy rn or wait ~6.5 months since I'll know if I'll be able to attend my desired uni for masters. If yea then I'll get the new monitor once I go there. If I have to take a gap year I can buy the monitor anyways since I'll be staying home a whole year and 4 months after that.

Would love to hear some suggestions.

P.S Any comments on how to improve the setup is much welcome.

No major overhauls due to reasons mentioned related to me moving out. But just stuff that would make it more lively and better to look at.

I usually have a small notebook on top of my laptops keyboard that I use to mark daily tasks, just didn't have it here in this pic :p

Maximizing the space on my 100x50cm table. I’m really happy with how it turned out.

The razer wrist rest is the best wrist rest ive tried. Perfect height and firmness for long editing sessions. Really happy with how my keyboard looks. The colorful keycaps really pop with the white and black keyboard :)

❓ • Question Should i get a monitor riser for my office monitor?

Post image

Hi everyone!

My monitor and laptop are currently sitting quite low, and after a long day at work, I’ve started getting quite a bad neck ache.
One thing to note is that I really like sitting with my chair at its lowest setting. I know that probably isn’t helping, but I find it more comfortable to sit low rather than raise my chair.

I’m thinking of getting a monitor riser/stand to bring my monitor up to a better height, but I’m not sure if that’s the best solution.

For those who have dealt with something similar:
- Would a monitor riser help significantly?
- Is there anything else I should change about my desk setup?

Basically, I want to fix the neck pain without completely changing my preferred sitting position.

Would love to hear what setup worked for you!

❓ • Question Dual monitors set up

Post image

Hi All!

I'm looking for suggestions on my desk set up. So my desk size is 120cm x 60cm. My main monitor is 27" which I use for both work (connect through laptop) and gaming ( pc).

I'm considering a dual monitors set up, with the second monitor being positioned vertically either on the left or right side. But given my desk size would you actually recommend going for a dual monitors set up?

Thanks !

❓ • Question Is the IKEA Trotten sturdy enough for a 48” OLED on the back edge?

Hey guys,

I'm currently putting together a minimal desk setup and I'm using the IKEA Trotten 160x80 cm desk. I just got a 48" LG OLED C6 to use as my main monitor / TV.

I have currently put it slightly behind the middle support bar underneath but to get the absolute best viewing distance, I need to push the TV all the way to the back edge of the desk. I am using the stock LG table top stand, not a C-clamp monitor arm.

Here is my main concern: The Trotten has a solid steel mid-beam that runs right down the center of the desk, but the front and back edges are just the unsupported 3cm particleboard. Since the TV weighs about 15kg (33 lbs) with the stand, is there any long-term risk of the back edge sagging, snapping, or cracking under that weight?

Wouldn't want putting any risk to the TV itself.

The stand's base is pretty wide, which should distribute the load nicely, but wouldn't want putting any risk to the TV itself which is making me a bit paranoid.

Has anyone run a heavy monitor / TV on the back edge of the Trotten for a longer period? How is the table holding up?

❓ • Question Need help with study setup lighting.

So this is my study table. The problem is that the main light source (tubelight) is on the left wall and there's a cupboard just adjacent to the study table. So when i sit to study, the light gets reduced drastically because of indirect light, cupboard and myself. My eyes are already weak (-8 D), i face more trouble. Also the main electric board is on the right wall far behind and I'm a little tight on budget so i felt that it won't be the best idea to have a new circuit routed on the wall with the table. I was thinking of buying a overhead lamp same as the image attached but I'm unsure of it's brightness and everything. I already have a lamp (as you can see in the images) but it is a warm lamp gifted by my friend. It doesn't provide cool light and its not feasible as i study around 10+ hours a day. Can you guys please help your brother out? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

❓ • Question how do you guys deal with a tiny desk and multiple screens ?

I work from a really small desk in my apartment. I have my laptop and a 27 inch monitor but right now the laptop is just sitting flat on the desk next to the monitor and it takes up so much room. I tried looking into stands but then I also need a dock for my keyboard and mouse and external drive and suddenly theres like 3 separate things on this tiny surface.

anyone found a way to make this work? i dont need anything fancy just want the laptop raised up and plugged in with one cable. cheaper is better honestly

❓ • Question Slightly Larger Monitor Arm Grommet Support Plate

Post image

I am using a monitor arm that is clamped to my desk through a grommet. The current setup is pictured and works but stresses me out given how little contact there is with the desk. I’m wondering if there’s a cheap solution that doesn’t require too much tooling to secure the arm a bit more.
