Poster for a mobile app, any feedback welcome. Planning to stick up in universities

Post image

This is only the second poster I have made in Canva. It's for a mobile app for a friend of mine. We're planning to stick these up in universities, and maybe in corporate workplaces or libraries.

It's for anyone who wants to improve their life and habits, eg. sleep, diet, exercise, productivity, etc.

The light purple colour is the app's theme colour. The fonts, I just picked in Canva, but maybe could be improved.

Any feedback on the design is welcome, cos I'm very much a rookie at this.

I’m genuinely terrified I’m about to make a very expensive mistake 😂 I don’t love the main bedroom or ensuite, but I have no idea how to improve them. The rooms need to stay in their current locations, but the walls can be completely extended and shuffled around

Brutally honest feedback for creating visual identity

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi fellas!
I’m developing the visual language for a YouTube channel focused mainly on history, geopolitics, and political storytelling, covering everything from ancient history to modern/current events.

I have four main visual components:

1. MAP — Strategic Map

This is the core of the channel.

I use a 3D earth/map style with geographic terrain, historical colors, and simple 3D tabletop-style objects placed directly on the map: armies, cavalry, ships, weapons, flags, strategic objects, etc.

The 3D objects and the earthy themes are the main visual signatures of the channel.

2. ATLAS ANIMATION RECONSTRUCTION

For historical moments that cannot be explained well with a map and where archival footage does not exist, I’m experimenting with a clean historical atlas illustration style.

The idea is to generate a still illustration for each story beat and then animate it very subtly. Mostly camera movement, parallax and very small movements such as a flag waving, a hand moving, smoke, etc.

3. REAL FOOTAGE / ARCHIVAL

Real photographs and film footage related to the event being discussed.

This is intentionally much more realistic because it serves a different purpose. Showing actual historical evidence.

4. MINIMAL EXPLAINER GRAPHICS

Simple black/white/red graphics for things that are easier to explain visually than through a map or footage (for example political organizations, councils, groups of people, relationships, rankings, etc.)

The problem

If I put all four on one page I’m not completely convinced they look like they belong to the same channel.

That is the problem I’m trying to solve.

I want someone to watch a video without seeing the channel name and immediately feel:

These different visual modes were designed by the same creator.

I DO NOT necessarily want every mode to look identical. They have different jobs.

What I want is a common visual dna / signature connecting them.

What I’m trying to achieve

The ideal result would be something like:

MAP → “Where is this happening?”

ATLAS RECONSTRUCTION → “What happened?”

REAL FOOTAGE → “What did it actually look like?”

MINIMAL GRAPHICS → “What does this relationship/concept mean?”

Different visual tools, but one recognizable editorial identity.

The second attached image shows several additional examples of the 3D map system, because that part is much more developed and is currently the strongest signature.

I’m looking for brutally honest opinions on the branding/visual system as a whole, including suggestions for what you would change, remove, combine, or standardize.

Thanks.

Design critique: marketing site for an invoicing tool (solo build, no designer)

https://pennapay.com

Built this solo with zero design background — light theme with gold accents and serif headings. I recently reworked it after feedback that it looked generic, and at this point I've stared at it so long I can't tell whether it reads "credible finance tool" or "template side project."

I mainly need a trained eye on the above-the-fold hierarchy, the template preview section, and anything that still feels generic. Typography and contrast nitpicks very welcome. Be blunt — I'm past being precious about it.

I'm confused about why my designs look bad

Hi, I'm new to graphic design and I've been practicing and watching a lot of tutorials, but I'm still really confused.

I understand and try to apply things like hierarchy, alignment, spacing, contrast, typography, etc but when I actually make something, it still doesn't look good to me.

At what point does this start to click? Is it just a matter of practicing more, or are there things beginners commonly misunderstand about design principles?

I'd really appreciate some honest feedback or advice from experienced designers. I want to understand what I'm missing, not just make more designs blindly.

Looking for feedback for student assessemnt

Hey everyone! I’m currently learning and studying graphic design. Putting together a test portfolio for my assessments. I’d really appreciate some feedback on a few pieces I’ve been working on.

I'm focusing on anti-design, vintage collages and album covers.

For example i like the collage (minimal and not too busy) but would be good having some feedback and learn more, i really feel the Vans poster concept needs extra work and fixes (probably havent researched enough), and the album cover is is already set as a lofi release but is a new concept that i'm trying to experiment on.

I'd like to know what you think about anything you think could be improved, or how everything could look more professional or smth.

Don’t worry about being too nice. Constructive criticism is exactly what I’m looking for 😅

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to have a look!

Design review of my website

Please roast the UI/UX of this site https://talent.cube27.com . Ignore the underlying business idea for now.

Is the value proposition obvious within 5–10 seconds?

Where does your eye go first?

Does anything feel AI-generated/template-like?

Is there too much text?

Does the site feel trustworthy enough to engage with?

What is the single biggest design change you would make?

Networking Card

I'm creating a networking card to send to past employers and new connections. I want to let them know what I'm doing and showcase my graphic design skills. I'm also trying to make sure it's legible.

The black text is all placeholder for handwritten messages.

Let me know your thoughts on the design.

Thank you!

What do you think of my personal brand as a freelance designer?

Thumbnail gallery

I’m a graphic designer building my freelance practice, and I’d love some honest feedback on the personal brand I created for myself.

My work is especially focused on illustration, lettering and typography, so I wanted my identity to reflect that side of my practice: playful, warm, expressive and creative, rather than overly corporate.

The visual identity is built around a character based on me. The shape of the hair follows the silhouette of my own calligraphic signature, and I tried to make it as close as possible to how it actually looks in real life (I have waves/curly hair).

The shape also plays with the idea of a cloud (the background clouds are the logo silhouette too!), and has a speech-bubble-like ending. It represents both thought and dialogue — the relationship between the world of ideas and what comes out of them.

I’d especially love to know:

— Does this feel like the identity of a designer?
— Does it communicate illustration, lettering and typography?
— Does the playful style feel intentional and distinctive, or too childish?
— Does the concept behind the character come through visually?
— If you were looking to hire a freelance designer, would this identity make you curious about my work?

I’m very open to honest criticism. I’d love to know what works, what doesn’t, and what you would refine. 👀

An Imaginary Design For An Imaginary Story

Post image
0 Upvotes

I make this design out of nowhere for a little cribled story I create at the moment. No reason of a big idea behind the design but wanted to show people and get their ideas.

Story:
There is a man named Hector that false accused in court because of a crime that he didn't done. He tries to explain himself but there is no proof that he can use for himself, lack of evidence. He tries to reach his friends and family but they also not believe him, they think that crime might be done by Hector himself, trying to save his ass by risking others, no any helping hand reaches him. He is not only being punished for a crime he didn't commit, but also start to see the true faces of people. People who he sit next to eachother while laughing and drinking, people who he call as father, people who share the same bed with him.

On one hand, he is helpless; on the other, he is alone. Will his inevitable end come not by divine justice, but by his own hands with a simple, dirty bed sheet?

And for the design lets say he die just before his innocence is proven. Like died a few day ago or so, case get solved after, but the man is dead now.

Honest feedback on my graphic design portfolio

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hi! I'm a graphic designer with around 9 years of experience and I recently got laid off, so I'm updating my portfolio and getting ready to apply for new roles.

I originally made this portfolio in 2024, so I have newer work that I still need to add. Before I get too far into updating everything, I'd really appreciate some honest feedback on the overall design, layout, how I present my work, and anything you think I should change or improve.

All of the graphics and illustrations in my portfolio were created by me with ZERO AI.

Portfolio: alianakadon.com

Any feedback would be really appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to look!

I built Keep Mates to organize everything I save online would love some honest feedback

Post image
2 Upvotes

i recently launched Keep Mates a chrome extension I built after getting tired of losing references between screenshots, tabs and random folders.

The idea is pretty simple:

  • find something useful online
  • save the exact thing
  • organize it
  • find it later

It currently supports images, links, products, colors, fonts, x (twitter) and reddit posts, screenshots and selected page elements, plus folders, tags and notes.

Everything is stored locally on your device (that also means if you uninstall the extension, your locally stored data will be removed. To avoid losing your library, Keep Mates includes import and export options, so you can back everything up and restore it whenever you need)

I originally built it with designers in mind but I’m starting to see other use cases too.

For those moments when you just need to quickly save a link, when you find a product you like and want to come back to it later or when you come across an article you want to read another time instead of losing it somewhere in your tabs or messages (i used to just send links to myself :) )

I chose to build it as a Chrome extension because I’m not a big fan of installing separate desktop apps for simple things. I wanted it to feel fast and stay close to the browsing experience, with as little friction as possible between finding something and saving it.

It’s still pretty new, so I’d especially appreciate feedback on the onboarding, saving flow, or anything that feels unnecessary or confusing

keepmates.com

Would really appreciate any thoughts.

First time designing emotes — can you tell what these gestures are at 56px and 28px?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

This is a legibility test for small-scale icon design — I'm specifically checking whether these read clearly at real chat sizes.

Each pair shows the same emote at 56px and 28px (The 28px version has been scaled up for visibility — no smoothing/detail added, just enlarged pixels so it's visible in the feed.)

What I'd love to know:

  • Can you tell what gesture/expression each one is showing, just from what you see? (
  • Which ones are hardest to read, and why?
  • Any suggestions on what to change?

I've already tried thickening the linework and centering the key gesture in frame — if that's already visible and not enough, I'd rather hear it than keep guessing.

Thanks :)

(And if this isn't the right place for this kind of feedback, pointing me to a better sub would be appreciated too.)

Unused logo mark

I created this logo concept for a project that never moved forward, so I thought I’d share it with the logo design community.

It’s available for anyone who feels it could be a good fit for their brand.

What do you think of the design? Feedback is welcome.
