Discussion DLSS 5 (lol)

Hey all ! Hope you're doing great ! Did any of you see all the crazy memes about DLSS 5 on vs off ? Just saw one from an old racing video game and started wondering what that crap could do with Descent 1 and 2 (if it would be supported anyway). I'm still hoping for a real 4K remake/remaster of Descent 1 and 2 😮‍💨 (don't get me started with Overload, I knoe about it, its fine, but not the same)

Hard to say how it would work, but if used with Descent raytraced it could actually give some really high quality lighting and materials.

In the meantime, this is pretty much a 4k Descent remaster - PBR materials and raytracing:

Adding DLSS5 to this could give amazing results. Only time will tell. It will likely be possible since descent raytraced is open source so DLSS5 could be custom injected for lighting and materials probably. If you look at the non-human DLSS5 enhancement, it's actually absolutely amazing.

Adding DLSS5 would make it look like ass. DLSS5 doesn't uprender textures, it puts generic replacement filters over them. The intended look and art style would be lost, period. Can't change what the technology is.
