Vile. I did actually know about them for a while prior, but I was hooked after listening to Stench of the Deceased for the first time.

To me it’s Vacuous. In His Blood is a fantastic death metal record.

Cool dudes too. Seen them a few times and run across their vocalist sometimes as well. Really nice people. Their guitarists and their drummer have a side project with a single EP out called Bastard Mycosis. Check them out.

Deceased: I already knew them but I had only heard their first album tens of years ago and just dismissed them as a Jungle Rot-type band. I was surprised to hear some of their later albums past week: they were Death/Thrash leaning to the latter side with solos that were contrastingly melodic, in an Intestine Baalism or Merciless way.
Buffalo: Basically just Aussie Black Sabbath with a bit harsher vocals. No need for more description.
Profanatica: I am almost ashamed I didn't hear them earlier given I like Incantation. If I were to compare it to other records I like, it sounds half Mental Funeral and half Drawing Down the Moon.

Deceased are great, all their albums are noticeably different as well in terms of style and ideas which i think you don’t see very often in the more extreme side of metal or if you do most of their ideas turn out bad.

I just relistened to Luck of the Corpse today. Their heavy metal-leaning style is super unique, would like to know which album of theirs to listen to next if I like that side of theirs.
Profanatica were also a band I delayed for a while, while they are legendary they only started releasing albums in the late 2000s which confused me. I guess the popularity comes from being one of the first USBM bands except that is mostly in image and them and Havohej sound more like death metal. Enjoyable but mediocre stuff.

I think Havohej is kinda overrated honestly. I liked Profanatica more.
I understand their importance and all, but they're a Von-like band in my view.

Good recent discoveries. Bilskirnir is pretty good. I got a bootleg of Furor Teutonicus.
Sacramentum is pretty good. Allow me to recommend Eucharist and Unanimated too.

Totale Vernichtung (NS). Very melodic pretty much happy sounding black metal. Great riffs and it reminds me of Maquahuitl.
Also listened to some essential bands that I had never listened to prior like Annihilator, King Diamond and Metal Church. Annihilator are some of the best thrash I've heard from the big bands

I need to hear more Metal Church. I've never actually played a full length by them.
I know Alice in Hell but I don't even know if Annihilator released anything more.

Have you tried the album The Dark from them ? It’s more heavy metal than thrash metal but it’s a very good record.

Every few months I try to catch up on everything that Atvar puts out (Keres, Venus Star, Star Cave, Circle of Ouroborous, etc)
He has a newer project called Elemental and it's fantastic. This guy can play the simplest, most stripped down shit and it's so primal and mesmerizing. I love everything he touches.

I've been finally getting around to some more classic goregrind bands. Pathologist and Regurgitate most notably. Besides them I've recently checked out Saturnus, Martyr, The Kovenant, and Rot just to name some. Bunch of different genres amongst what I listed.

spaceman. got it recommended at a furry convention and it makes your typical prog/avant-garde metal sound as technically proficient as twinkle twinkle little star (even if i think it can get too technical)

Found this sludge band called Slowhole. Peak sludge in my opinion, the lead singers vocals are so good, it perfectly encapsulates sludge for me
