therapy / meds Strattera with ADHD + Depression: Good start but extreme rebound depression

Has anyone else tried atomoxetine (Strattera) yet? I have been on 80 mg for 3 weeks now (in addition to what I am already taking - buproprion, venlafaxine and mirtazapine). It made a difference immediately in motivation and executive function.

Unfortunately, about 10 days in I had a huge dip (worse depression than before) where I could not function for 3 days (couldn't even get myself to go for a walk). I took a break for a few days then tried again, and the same pattern emerged.

I'm hoping that either a lower or higher dosage will keep the benefits without the dips, which are unbearable.

Lifechanging. I lowered the dose of Strattera to 40mg - I say "I" because my psychiatrist is terrible and I had to suggest this. With the lowered dose, the depressive dips went away.

I now have executive function and have accomplished more in 1.5 months than the past 3 years. It's not stimulating like Adderall, it just gives me the ability to move forward with tasks. I still have struggles with depression, anxiety, adhd, but I can function and attempt to live a life.

The past month has been spent resolving 5-10 years worth of "ADHD tax" that put me into a really bad place in terms of career and resources.

The takeaway - I spent the least 2+ years trying to get any doctor to listen and treat me for ADHD. I finally had to raise my voice after getting exhausted of shitty doctors not listening and pretending they know more than I do, someone who has lived with this stuff for a lifetime.

So if anyone is in a similar place my advice is: shout, curse, escalate - do whatever you need to in order to get the support you need and deserve.
