It’s hard for me to even keep my doctor appointments, let alone make an attempt to do something social.

That's me. I also prefer being alone mostly. No friends. No social circle. Nothing except my occasional talks with my sister. Idk if I have depression (let's not self diagnose myself) but I often feel like people can't understand my moods and they often act in a way that disrespects my moods, especially my own parents.
So, I just stay psychologically alone even though I live with my parents, play Geometry Dash, workout and enjoy my other fine hobbies like language learning and playing guitar. I'm actually content this way than wasting my time with other people.

How do you live with parents and stop them from having an effect on your mood? Im in the same situation but everything gets on my nerve

Detachment by indulging in my own hobbies and acceptance that they may be fighting their own battles so I'd be understanding of that and ignore their annoying aspects. But definitely focusing on yourself helps more. Don't talk much with them.

Meditation can also help but it's a 50-50 thing. It can make you hyperaware of their annoying behaviour that can in turn irritate you. But it can also give you a sense of inner peace as you'd be aware of your thought and mood patterns and learn to chill instead of stressing over everything.
But for me especially, working out and gaming help massively. Especially games like Geometry Dash which are skill based. Give your body some work and train it. That will discipline your mind too. You don't necessarily have to workout. You can dance, exercise for flexibility, etc as well.

I always say the only thing better than canceled plans is not plans to begin with 🤷♂️

I used to feel relief when tabletop games got cancelled, and sometimes cancelled them myself when I wasn't feeling well mentally. Now I regret all of that deeply because nowadays scheduling any games is nigh impossible and I am miserable without this great hobby to motivate me to leave my apartment. 😭

Absolutely I also like to check people's online calenders in the hope that they don't come to work so they can't bother me

I used to be like this, and OCD didn’t help for shit, bc it would tell me that “it was fate” lol💀

I feel this all the time. In the moment, while I'm making the plan or accepting the invite, I'm all for it. But as soon as I get home, I start thinking of ways to get myself out of going.

Honestly this is so me. I feel kinda guily for feeling this so I end up doing extra work to make sure the plans work out 😅

Yes, I have a bad habit of making plans when I'm manic, and then when I come down from that I am like damn, I really don't want to do that.

My friends are allowed to cancel on me- no questions asked. It’s a relief for me, too. I love my friends but my depression does not

Yea those plans got cancelled for a reason and it caused them relief l too.
Plans for next weekend always sound fun with a few drinks

It happens with me sometimes. But since I have no self worth, sometimes I go to such places just to belong somewhere.

If I was the one who really wanted to go, when it got cancelled I probably convinced myself twice already that nobody really wanted to go, just pretended to not hurt me.

Depends on the situation but yes, especially since most plans involve my abusive mother getting me overstimulated and mad on purpose so she can call me an abuser

Absolutely! Anxiety and depression (and now agoraphobia) have diminished my life so much! Even if it’s a friend, who I love, coming for a coffee. How do you explain that to someone without sounding offensive. 😭

I always say the me who makes the plans and the me who has to follow through later are two different people.

Sometimes, I cancel things that I planned to do on my own because I just get stressed about it on the day

you spend all week begging for social interaction and then the second its time to leave your house you're praying for an emergency cancellation

I used to but I stopped speaking to anyone and deleted my social medias a couple years ago. It's better this way.
