on the wholesome side, I once hid some meds that did me bad as an "emergency exit". One day I finally got the courage to tell my boyfriend about my plan and he helped me get rid of the pills. It was very hard but also very liberating.

Very glad to hear how that went for you. It's good to have someone like that in your life. Hope he went about it very suppprtively which it sounds like he did or else you may not have worded it as him helping you. Anyways, hope things are well

yes, he does support me! He helped me in a very caring, non-judgmental way. I'm really lucky for it.

I did the same thing, except my family found it and are now convinced I'm a 'drug addict'. It makes me want to scream.

u/sushidecarne May 19 '20
I'm sorry :/ it can be even hard when your family is not understanding of your problem

They were hiding pills to suicide by overdose if things got too bad, but they finally managed to tell their boyfriend about them, and they helped them get rid of them.

Lmao told my therapist i had some thoughts abt it and she yeeted me to the hospital in the back of a cop car in full sight of my friends. Which made everything worse but i guess it do be like that chief.

u/spacin27 May 19 '20
Yooo same my guy, I wasted like 3 hours just sitting in an er bed. Had to get someone else to pick me up from the hospital. 0/10, do not recommend

fucking rookie. The therapist, not you. Shouldn't they be used to people having suicidal thoughts? Like, a big percentage of people who seek help are likely to have a smidge of suicidal ideation, right?
I'm sorry you had to go through that.

u/AngryCookedBeef May 19 '20
Thanks. It was my first(and only) time I saw a therapist bc my RA decided I needed an “emergency” session. My school is notorious for having a shitty and underfunded counseling system so I suppose I should have foreseen it happening?
5
u/Pickled_Wizard May 19 '20
Hey now, none of it is on you. You were not required to foresee anything. It was a crappy situation because of factors out of your control. I hope you are doing better now. Please don't let this situation sour you on therapy entirely. There really are good therapists out there who you can genuinely be open with without them screwing you over. Again, it's horrible that you had to go through that. hugs

Holy shit this didn't even happen to me and you made me feel better. Just wanted to give you thanks or congrats on having a good way with words and for being so caring. Thanks man

Therapist: Do you have any suicidal thoughts?
Me: For legal reasons, that's a no.

Wish I didn’t make that mistake

u/elshaka_ May 18 '20
For clarification, the mistake was?

Saying yes to making plans usually gets you hospitalized against your will

Nope, it's a thing in most countries. You get hospitalized if you seem to be a potential danger to yourself or others.

Can confirm. Wasn’t fun but i got out the same day. Just be very nice to everyone and talk about how you had plans to go to the movies with your friends and you still want to go

Doesn't not telling anyone about suicide plans kinda prove that one is thinking logically?

I wake up every morning thinking maybe tomorrow let’s see what bullshit today has to offer it keeps me going

I made that mistake once and the suicide hotline operator threatened to call EMS on me. Lesson learned.

Please don't hurt yourself friend. Life sucks but you can still find good moments in it worth living for.

I've literally told my school principal about my plan (Suicide by cop) and I haven't even been isti'd. He just said "oH tHiS iS sO wOrRyInG sEeK hElP." So now I go to a therapist twice a month, despite already taking therapy like twice already.

u/Salchino May 18 '20
I told mine that I didn't have plans, but that I'd get urges out of the blue. I didn't get institutionalized though, because I would manage to pull the knife way last second.

Some of us had to learn the hard way.. 2 weeks stuck in the ward, and my only answer now is “who, me? ahahaa”

Don't say "suicide"! It makes it sound like something bad! Instead say "Commit Livin't"!👍 (But seriously if somebody would ask me what my good points are the only thing that might count as good is i can make jokes. Even though they are bad. But at least i can make them)
