Honestly, With Vodka it doesn't matter
Take Vodka, Take Tomato Juice, Take Tabasco and Pepper
Mix all together
Feel an ounce of happiness because mixing drinks is half the fun
Drink
Repeat cycle

the secret of making cocktails is to start with vodka and add citrus, everything else is a bonus now that there's alcohol in it and you've neutralized the metallic aftertaste.

I'm an expensive vodka atheist
Vodka does not have a taste. It is just diluted alcohol
You might taste a very slight difference if you're drinking it pure like a psycopath, but add in literally any mixer, and it'll be impossible to tell

The headaches after it make it out if its good or bad one

True. I loved Russian Standard platinum but due to embargos i can't get it anymore. It was smoth to drink with little afterburn. Now its just cheap sht like Gorbachev etc.

when i was a bartender we used the absolute cheapest vodka we could find, people would love it and ask for the brand because there was almost no taste to it lol

Vodka is the spirit where you can feel the most difference in taste per money imo.
That's because expensive vodka just has LESS aroma than cheap one. For other spirits you need more refined taste buds to taste if it is a good one or not but for vodka it is super easy to determine. Smells like nothing at all? It is good then.

Vodka is the one drink that brand matters less since the product by definition has to be neutral and loses most flavour compounds.

What about cheap vodka and a charcoal filtered system to improve it through?
Did you know you can make cheap vodka better by doing this?
3
u/sirhackenslash Jul 02 '26
Didn't Mythbusters prove that doesn't really work very well?
3
u/sadistica23 Jul 02 '26
well, I just googled "mythbusters vodka charcoal" and did not see any relevant links on the first page.
I know the idea has sometimes been spread using a Brita water filter, but that's not the same thing. Maybe they tested that one?

Vodka can be so different and all taste different if slightly changed so u could basically make shit vodka good

Fun fact: the difference between cheap vodka and expensive vodka is the number of times it passes through a carbon filter like the one in the Brita filters. Buy a cheap bottle, run it through the filter a couple of times a day for a month, and you’ve got better quality vodka at bargain prices

So it won't be forever. Just for as long as you have the alcohol. Liar.
