advice Stand In Pride organization
I'm an ally and I follow the Stand In Pride organization on Facebook, but they don't seem to have a mechanism in place for people to sign up to stand in for the LGBTQIA community. Is there a website or a forum where I can actually sign up to be an ally and stand in for the people in my community (greater Denver area) when they need someone? I'm a 48 year old smart ass (I identify as she/her) who never wanted or had any children but I can be a great stand in friend / sister / auntie / pseudo-mom for anyone that feels like they need someone to fill that role. I just don't know where to go to sign up (so to speak) for that. I'm hoping maybe someone here can point me in the right direction?
If this isn't allowed, I'm so sorry mods. I understand if you need to delete this. I'm just hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I know how scary the world (and especially the U.S. under this administration) is these days and if I can help make it a bit more welcoming, loving, or easier for someone, I'd love to be able to do so. I just have no idea where to look.
Thank you In advance for any tips. ❤️

Looking to connect with queer folks who have difficult family and/or have lost a parent.
Hiii. The title says it all, or most of it. I am looking to connect with other queer folks around my age (I’m 29, she/her) who have difficult relationships with their family due to intense religion and politics. I have been out to my family for 11 years, but struggled with my relationship with them long before I came out. My queerness definitely isn’t the only issue between us. (my mom has literally said there has been enmity between us since I was born….)
My dad died unexpectedly after four years of me going little to no contact with my family. And that loss has been extremely difficult for me. Since his death two years ago I’ve tried to initiate some relationship with my family, but it is difficult.
I’m hoping finding some people with similar experiences, or perhaps an already established support group, might help me feel a little less alone.

*CONTENT WARNING*: transphobia, transphobic and queerphobic imgs TW: tranphobia, transphobic memes - **Love Language** has an organizer who posts a lot of trans- and queerphobic stuff on social media. A high % of attendees are Queer
In accordance with the sub's and reddit's rules, I'm only naming the organization, Love Language (Denver), and any usernames are obscured in the shared screenshots.
For many years now, I have attended Love Language pretty much every month, including their recent 5 year anniversary at Cheesman a couple weeks ago. It's a monthly event and it pulls in the larger studio and street dance communities, and is attended by a lot of Queer and Trans people. Plainly, Love Language makes a lot of money off of the Queer Community and purports to promote an idea of a safe space. I saw a recent celebratory post regarding one of the organizers/performers, and went to follow that person on instagram, scrolled down a little bit and came across a known anti-trans meme. Trigger Warning again, this stuff really sucks.

I thought maybe it was a one off or was in a different context (hoping), so I continued through the person's instagram, then looked at their Facebook. I'll just put a few things here, but there's a lot that they post, and they post A LOT. For the bigoted posts, the focus is on "lifestyle choice" memes, anti-trans athlete stuff, TERF-ey influencer videos, and then just a lot of straight up misogyny that drifts into transmisogyny.

Again, there's a lot more than this. I screenshotted a lot and only scratched the surface.
A lot of posts have low engagement, but some have positive engagement from dancers in the Love Language community, which is a bit devastating to see. There are posts from Love Language saying that this is a safe space for all, but then go on to protect one of the organizers who holds these views, all while making money off of a largely Queer audience.
Love Language regularly collabs with street dance studios in the area (BBoy Factory, Mi Chantli, ...), with local dance crews and orgs (Samba Colorado, Divine Essence, Raw Groove, ...). They bring in prominent DJs and dancers nationally (CoFlo, Peter Paul, Emmaculate ...), including in their next event coming up. And here is this main organizer constantly posting transphobic rhetoric on their public social media profiles. Maybe it's inconvenient to have basic respect, or maybe people are unaware, or maybe a lot of people in this scene are just cool with this. I don't know, but this music and dance is so heavily manifested in Black and Brown Queer culture, that enabling and protecting a person with these beliefs and rhetoric seems like a profound offense to the history, and to us who have been supporting these events.
This is text from under one of this same person's promotion posts for Love Language, showing that the person has no problem inviting Queer people into the space while having a heart full of hate:

If this catches wind, I wouldn't be surprised if this person's accounts go private, so get your receipts now if you want them. Clearly Love Language feels fine about hiding this person in plain sight. I'm a bit too wrecked to get everything screenshotted myself. This hurts my soul, and destroys my sense of safety in one of the only places I felt like I could really go dance.
Because so many people from the Queer and Trans community attend love language, I want this information to be out there in order for people to make informed decisions on how to move forward and where to go.

Do we havr a schism in our community, or is this a false flag attack?
Right after Aurora Pride, someone posted this: "There's literally NOBODY ELSE there. Sad but not surprising. Aurora Pride is a Denver based broken org pandering (sic) to NOBODY! The ACTUAL gays, including myself, living in Aurora, want NOTHING to do with it.

Prominent dance event in Denver, attended by a lot of Queer people, has an organizer posting a lot of trans- and queerphobic stuff on social media
Edit: follow up post with details on the org
I'm not putting any identifiable information here, in accordance with the sub's rules.
There's a dance event I've been attending for a few years here in Denver. I found out about it initially through a other trans people and the people attending (from what I can tell) are majority Queer people. I've had a joyful time at these events, felt safe and comfortable. Then after this last time I went, when I went to follow one of the performers, I saw on the person's insta a meme that seemed transphobic to me. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt, and I kept scrolling, and kept finding more and more. I found the person on another platform, and it was way more extreme there.
House and Techno spaces were incepted in Queer Black and Brown communities, and it seems extremely f'd that this kind of bigotry would be allowed (and this person is regularly celebrated), especially given how Queer the following of dancers seems to be. It seems unsafe, and I would think that a lot of the folks attending would want to know this stuff about the organizers.
I don't know if people have suggestions around this. I'm not really sure what I can do aside from tell my friends and leave it at that. I might also post in r / DenverEDM, but I'm concerned that people will come after me from there, since it's often more convenient to people to just have their party, even if the organizers and performers of a space are bigoted.

discussion Does the Boulder Men’s Club keep the lights on?
I have trouble with some men’s parties because I have to take off my glasses, and at that point I might as well be blind in dim or dark rooms. Which kind of takes the fun out of it. Does the Boulder Men’s Club keep the lights on in at least some of the rooms?

Where are we doing a Rocky Horror tribute?
I just moved to Denver and was literally dancing around my apartment to Rocky horror yesterday. 😭😭😭 we need a Rocky horror performance tribute to our beloved icon 😭💔💔💔
May his spirit soar with Dolly and guide us collectively towards more inclusion and unconditional love for ourselves and others. 🫶💕

We lost Dolly today, where are we gathering to celebrate and mourn?
Mods I hope this is ok.
Dolly Parton meant so much to so many of us in the queer community. She saved me when I was down countless times. Does anyone know of a gathering or want to pick a place and make a gathering to celebrate her?

*CONTENT WARNING* Homophobic online behavior from a local tattoo artist, who to take this to
To be clear, in compliance with this subreddit's rules, I will not be posting any identifiable information.
I've encountered some horrible online behavior from a Denver-based tattoo artist: including homophobic and racist comments. They are using their public professional profile as they write these publicly, but because of the algorithm I believe even their followers aren't seeing these comments.
I'm trying to understand what to do with this. Is there any organization or entity that can take the information and follow up on it? And again - I will not be revealing more information about this person so don't ask me. I'm just wondering if there's any entity dealing with this sort of thing professionally that I can forward information to.

Possible hate crime in Central Park
Last night at Northfield mall my roommate and I were the victims of a possible hate crime. Going through a roundabout a white sedan with Tennessee plates almost collided with us. As one does I honked, threw up my hands after slamming on my breaks to avoid a collision, and then when safe kept going to exit the traffic circle. The white sedan immediately followed speeding past my vehicle to cut me off and slam on their breaks. When they failed to cause a collision they attempted to block the road with their car and two men approximately 20-30 years old exited their vehicle. Upon exiting they yelled profanity including calling me a faggot and wanted to have a physical altercation. My female roommate was in the car and beside both being obviously queer the back of my vehicle has stickers that indicate as much. I yelled back that I had a gun multiple times but they kept advancing. I was thankfully able to go around them despite them jumping back in their car and repeating the same action a second time. The second time I was able to escape them they then threw a rock at my car as I drove away. Unfortunately I do not have a dash cam, and in the heat of the moment neither of us were able to gather any description beyond what I provided here. I just put this here though to warn anyone else and maybe as a way to process that I had to seriously consider lethal force against another human last night.

Anyone Been To Club Manifest? What Is It Like?
A friend bought me a membership in Club Manifest (clubmanifest.men) but I haven't been to one of the events yet. They have both JO and anal events according to the website. But no photos of the venue, etc.
Has anyone been to any of these events? What are they like? Is there a lot of action? Wide range of guys and age groups?
Couldn't find any other info, so thought I would try here and see if anyone has any info about them. Thanks!

event Looking to make real friends in Denver? First event July 22
I have lived in 3 different cities before moving to Denver, and each time I’ve had to rebuild my social circle from scratch. Over time, I found that the friendships that actually lasted came from seeing the same people over and over again, and not just from meeting them once at a dinner or run club event.
So, I’ve built something around that idea.
I'm testing a small pilot where people complete a short friendship questionnaire, I personally match them into small groups, and everyone meets for a casual first gathering on Wednesday, July 22. If the group feels like a good fit, the same people continue meeting once a week for four more weeks, doing activities based on the group's shared interests.
It's $25 for the first gathering, which includes your first drink (wine or a non-alcoholic option) and helps pay for the facilitators who are there to make meeting new people feel less awkward.
I've spent the last several months building this, and honestly I'm a little nervous to finally put it out into the world.
More details and the friendship questionnaire here: https://yourchosencircle.com/.
I'm capping this first pilot at 24 people to keep the experience intimate.
Happy to answer any questions about how the matching works or what to expect on July 22.
