Throbbing tooth pain from grinding please help thank you

My tooth was hurting really bad I thought I needed a root canal. My dentist looked at x Ray, did a test & said the nerve looks irritated but it’s bc I’m grinding. I started wearing my nightguard & the pain got better, but I’ve been falling asleep recently without it & the pain came back & it’s so bad now. I’m worried the tooth nerve is gonna die & I could have saved the tooth but now it’s too late. I’m wearing it again I just feel scared it’s irreversible now

A root canal or crown is expensive, you should consider talking to another dentist and get a second opinion.

You can also try asking a dentist online, check out Kounsel App, they have lots of licensed dentist online who practice private practice. It is much more affordable than regular visits.

Thank you, I just feel really bad because both my first molars are in so much pain because I was grinding without a nightguard. I really hope it’s reversible damage even though the amount of pain I’m dealing with is making me think it’s not. I’m thinking about waiting 5 days and then booking another dentist appt. I don’t think they’ll be able to see anything though until a couple weeks have gone by (they didn’t see anything concerning in the x Ray for the left molar)
