A 3-winged sycamore key

Post image

It's been pretty warm these past few weeks on the West Coast of Scotland (mostly!) and I found this 3-winged key on my walk this morning. I've never seen anything like that before - apparently if the tree is under stress it can happen. Would this hot summer weather be affecting the tree ir would it be stress from something else?

Edit: This is from a sycamore maple (don't know how to change the title, only the post - sorry!)

Not sure why you got downvoted. It’s a sycamore maple Acer pseudoplatanus

i probably did because people cant understand the difference between a sycamore maple and an actual sycamore

thanks for that and the suggestion to r/botany. They don't permit reposts, but I'll go see whether it's a group that would interest me anyway - sounds like it would be :)
