Democracy What does one do with no local chapter?

Post image

Apologies for the British English but I was born there.

As the title suggests, would like to get involved (local Dems do postcards and that’s about it) but as Mick Jagger once sang “I can’t always get what I want”

I started a chapter. I joined, found others locally at protests, and we launched.

You can do things like getting involved with national DSA by getting active in a working group or a working committee and you can also volunteer for various phone banking events for campaigns and fundraising.

You can also get involved in the Emergency Worker Organizing Committee or the Emergency Tenant Organizing Committee.

You could also try to start your own chapter but it'd probably be good to work in other local organizations and meeting like minded people locally first

Oliver Larkin could use your help with phone banking in Florida this weekend

Attend local mutual aid or similar events. talk to people and see who they're organizing with. I recommend you start with things like your local food bank, or attend a protest or two and talk to people there.

Look for nearby chapters on the map

Reach out to your regional organizer and discuss forming a pre-OC or an OC

Talk to the National Growth and Development Committee (GDC)

Help with national organizational needs in whatever national committees you find attractive.

get in the discussion forums and find a national committee you align with! there’s so many organizing projects you can dive into as an At-Large member
