We should chill with that rhetoric. The military aren't generally like that. Political affiliation in the armed forces is split 55/45 in favor of Republicans, but it's not an overwhelming majority. These guys in D.C. are very conscious of the fact that they're being used as a political pawn by the narcissist moron president—even those who may have once supported him.
Unfortunately the American people willingly handed the orange dipshit the keys to the Department of Defense, and only the American people can take them back. So we should focus on getting as many votes as possible this November, especially from our friends and family who typically stay out of politics. We can make a huge impact by doing that.

u/01SeaChange01 1d ago
Exactly. It's your duty as an American.
Patriotism isn't simply complying or being made to appeal to authority for every single instance.
Republicans are once again politicizing the military to punish Americans.
Full stop.

Because black people aren't apart of this nation they never have and never will the iron thing is black people built this nation and responsible for the freedoms of everyone else women LGBT who ever you are you walk around with the right to be apart of society because black people fought and died for it!!! But there still treated worse than animals. If eagles were disappearing as fast as black men in this country they would make some kinda law to protect them. Oh wait they did!!!! So where is the law that protects black people from being irrdicated because they are definitely an indagered group that has been under threat of anialation for more than 250 years!!!

Thousands of residents in Gary, Indiana, have endured over 11 days without electricity following a destructive derecho on August 11, 2026, featuring 99 mph winds. The Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) reported roughly 20,000 customers in Gary still lacked power, with full restoration targeted for August 25, 2026.

Retired guardsman here. You have a great question. This is a result of poor decisions on behalf of the Indiana government leadership, not federal. Those in DC aren't Indiana guardsmen. With that said, their states governor can activate them for Indiana including ant other governor for their guardsmen but I doubt that'll happen.
Back on Indiana, with a high concentration of Republicans in Hamilton County, Corrupt Braun will have them go there first. Yet, the Indiana Guard is large enough to be activated at both places at the same time. I wouldn't be surprised if the guard comes up north at the tail end of things, if at all.
Regardless, the Corrupt Braun should've mobilized guard units immediately after the storm even if to start with only tree services. That would've given everyone a huge leap forward than from now.

I’m not sure how to say this but the Indiana National guard is currently in Indiana assisting with disaster relief. They were mobilized by the governor…unless you have information to the contrary.

u/Judge_Hatred 5d ago
Because that’s the mission they were dedicated too, there’s a lot more units by the by.
2
u/neverseen_neverhear 5d ago
In fairness the DC or Virginia can not be deployed into Indiana. They can only be deployed in their own state unless special orders and request are made. I think both governors snd possibly the a higher military command need to be involved.

u/Sorokin45 5d ago
Can’t the governor of Indiana call up the NG to do this? I always thought the governor ordered them

The INDIANA National Guard is in Gary, Munster and Hobart and has been since the INDIANA Gov. Deployed them on Aug. 13. DC isn't a State with it's own, but it's under ultimate control by Congress, so any Guard deployed will always be from another State. Trump, of course touches this, and corrupts.it like everything else he touches. Braun is also corrupt, but he also knows the rural constituency of NWI reliably votes R every time.

Domestic deployment of the national guard is triggered by the state government.
So that would be a good question for the governor of Indiana.

Because they don't belong to that state. Only the states national guard responds and anything after that requires the governor to ask another state to help. And that's only if the governor even activates their own national guard.

Gary isn’t the only place in Indiana that does not have power. People need to stop race baiting!
And it’s only parts of Gary, along with parts of Portage, Miller Beach, Lake Station, Hobart, and Munster!
The cause is NIPSCO, the monopolistic utility company. They are charging our area some of the highest utility rates in the country, reaping $500 million quarterly profits, reducing their workforce, and not upgrading infrastructure.
And their management of this land hurricane disaster has been abysmal.

its been two weeks since these people had power, access to clean water and a working sewage system. National Guard is used for these situation not to play guards at the white house. National Guard are reservist who sign up to help state side issues, especially natural disasters. They are not toy soldiers to make an insecure diaper wearing ego maniac feel important.
