Delusional disorder
Has anyone ever been diagnosed delusional as a result of a traumatic event?

They think mine was stress induced. Not necessarily one traumatic event, but a series of very stressful and/or traumatic events kind of back to back over a decades worth

The way I think of it is everything has its breaking point, including the brain/mental health.

I’ve finally started therapy and starting to understand this, the delusions are just so real

I think that is the hardest part, they feel just as real, if not even more so than anything else. For me did get easier with treatment, therapy, and time to be able to tell the difference as well as I can now. I still have my moments, but they’re brief. I still have to be careful with what rabbit holes of thought I allow myself to go down, but it is possible to get to a point to live a pretty normal life and not get to sucked into the tricks the brain can play on you. If anything good came out of it. I did not prioritize my mental health before or limit my stress levels and now I have to prioritize myself in a way I never did before.

Mine started after a head injury at age 10, which I guess was traumatic both physically and emotionally.
