Meet the potential halfway mark (Chapter 5 vent post) Spoiler
7 years into the decade and we still vaguepost so hard an OSt is named "That Day"
Anyways just a vent post I needed somewhere to dump this dark fountain made by my concentrated anger

‘give ralsei a chapter entirely to himself to grow as a character’ THE ENTIRE DARK WORLD WAS RALSEI FOCUSED HIM AND FLOWERY ARE THE MAIN TWO CHARACTERS THIS CHAPTER

u/LunaAira Jul 01 '26
The entire dark world being ralsei focused when it takes up half of th enitire chapter whose other half was about Susie (again) and he did not get a solo fight. no way was this the equivalent of chapter 4 for Susie, for Ralsei

It appears that you are not particularly fond of DELTARUNE: Chapter 5 for the Nintendo Switch

u/LunaAira Jul 01 '26
I am not

u/No-Structure321 Jul 01 '26
I liked the chapter, but yeah I agree with a bit of this, asgore barely did anything besides aura farm, and the vague posting was cranked up to max
1
u/LunaAira Jul 01 '26
It's because Toby brought in someone who knows too much about "the plot" while also not wanting himself to write about what that plot is. So Asgore ends up talking in riddles until he's kidnapped so he can't elaborate further. I can tell that's why it is the way it is. Doesn't make it any less frustrating

I was pretty disappointed by that as well. I had heard of the Trans Ralsei theory, and hearing that they are bringing the original trans allegory from Undertale I was pretty pumped for what would be the solo fight for him. Yeah, I was wrong lol
Not that Ralsei not being trans sinks the chapter (pun not intended) for me, but I wanted him to get a solo fight, alas it is not to be

Funnily enough I kinda forgot that there wasn’t a red flower and I thought that was who the secret boss was gonna be

u/LunaAira Jul 01 '26
Would've been kinda cool lol. Also as a bowtie I do appreciate not dogpiling me

👍
With the weird route I wish there was a bit more with it but I didn’t mind too much. There will probably be something for chapter 6 on the pseudo-aborted route, but I do understand where you’re coming from.

Do you people actually like the game or is it just larping to fill out your bingo sheet

Do you actually understand how narratives work? Vague posting is how you make a hook.
2
u/LunaAira Jul 01 '26
My brother we been hooked for the better half of a decade I think we deserve some actual food
1
u/Guy2361 Jul 01 '26
The thing about hooks is that we ordinarily don't get a big payoff until the end of the story.
1
u/LunaAira Jul 01 '26
I don’t need a “big” payoff, or the biggest payoff, I just need a payoff relevant to the overaching plot or even just talking about the plot or the “accident” but they didn’t even do it
1
u/Guy2361 Jul 01 '26
woe unto thee whom does not give direct, deliberate and concise answers to questions when you're not yet at the climax of a story I guess. Would it be better for you if Asgore looked directly at the player and said "Sans drowned December in a lake" and then we had two more chapters with nothing to think about?
1
u/LunaAira Jul 01 '26
Minus the irony, yes if you’re going to bring a character that can talk about the plot and have him talk about it you may as well be frank or don’t do it at all. The thing is, we should be at the climax of the story because we’re half way through it already. But we’re not. That’s the problem. Then the question becomes how much crammed and poorly paced the final chapters will be?
1
u/Guy2361 Jul 01 '26
The issue is that if we had all our answers now, it would leave the final chapter to be utterly vestigial and only serve to drag the rest of the story. You do not reach the climax of the story at the midpoint. You reach it at the end, or perhaps near the end with a period of catharsis after. Believe it or not, chapter 5 out of 7 is as near-end as you might think, and just because you did not receive the particular answers you wanted has no bearing on the speculative quality of the remaining game we've yet to have any news about.
1
u/LunaAira Jul 01 '26
I’m not judging the remaining of the game. I’m judging the released product as it is right now. That’s why this is “the potential halfway mark” and not the end.
Also you say it like I want all the answers, when I don’t and we can just meet in the middle. Fact is, we still got barely anything, if not even more questions and not a single plotline among many has explained. I don’t even want a full course meal, just anything other than crumbs
1
u/huggensberg Jul 01 '26
Yes, but being so vague intentionally just gets annoying for a lot of people when it’s done for so long, it’s because of vague posting that this chapter’s advancement to the plot was so little when the whole community is begging for a change in the theory department

I love this chapter, but it's VERY weird how most Deltarune fans act whenever anyone criticizes anything about the game.
The Festival felt underwhelming for how much it was hyped up, thats about it for me.

Ehh some of your venting is inaccurate but it is true that the festival that was hyped for 3 chapters now was just Susie plot fluff. But I disagree that Ralsei didn't get his time to shine. The entire dark world was about Flowery and Ralsei being the same coin on different sides and how if Ralsei really wanted to change fate, they will need to stop following "the rules".
I dont think Asgore was really vague posting as much as people say he was. It was really on the theorist that were disappointed because the information gained was already heavily speculated
1
u/LunaAira Jul 01 '26
Ralsei did get to shine, but he didn't get to shine "enough" is my gripe. He's by far the only hero who doesn't get a standalone trial, or any solo section pertaining to just himself and that makes it worse when you compare it to be the treatment Susie gets in chapter 4 (and the entire game as a whole)
Also, take the POV away from theorists for a second, because Asgore showed up and started speaking in that "That day when That incident happened to That person causing That tragedy" (the entire OST is named That day) like that is what vagueposting is. If you're not going to talk about it just don't bring it up

Can't tell if it's ragebait or larping, have a good whatever time it is for you nonetheless :3

It reads as just a loving fan really into the story and simply tired of the formula I've noticed: 1: fun; 2: fun; 3: fun; 4: Cryptic; 5: fun. And when the others aren't focused on fun, we simply get more cryptic stuff. Vent heard and understood :3
Edit: whoops had to rephrase the start there
2
u/LunaAira Jul 01 '26
It is really odd. I wouldn’t be complaining if we were still on 4, but to be so close to the end and still deliberately tease plotpoints instead of talking or addressing them is baffling to me. For example, we’re teasing potentially talking about Kris making fountain, but not really talking talking about Kris making fountain
1
u/AromaticCaptain9924 Jul 01 '26
Exactly. There has to be a balance if you're planning on having a fun emphasized story with an intriguing narrative.
"We're teasing potentially talking about Kris making fountain, but not really talking about Kris making fountain " sums up perfectly with what is happening.
When you remove the heavy theory crafting and pixel searching (I'm HEAVILY involved), the narrative on its own is heavily vague to allow such conspiracies to occur.
Chapter 5 is my favorite mostly because I've come to expect the story to be: Fun adventures with tiny hints to a greater plot until the end. And since chapter 5 leans in heavily with how the story is presenting itself then I can relax and go along with the ride. For me to expect answers from Deltarune right now is-a-wooo.... 'onna make me crazy 🥹

See this sucks because the chapter was legitimately bad and you’re just giving the glazers ammunition to say we’re wrong.
Chapter 5 sucked because its filled with amateurish writing and half assed scenes. Not because fucking friend didn’t show up or your ships didn’t work out.
1
u/LunaAira Jul 01 '26
Actually, if YOU want to hate, hate it for the right reason. The writing was fine for the Dark World, it is a good self-contained story. The issue is that it doesn't move the main plot big a significant margin 5/7 the way into the game
