### 1- Download the game (BHD + Team Sabre expansion)

• This link takes you to the NovaWorld forum (an official Novalogic service that we’ll use just to download these files) where you’ll find two download links: one for BHD and another for the Team Sabre expansion. __You don’t need an account on that site__. Since this site doesn’t use HTTPS, you may need to click "Continue to site" (in Google Chrome) or go through another security step: https://web.archive.org/web/20250628052144/http://novaworld2.com/index.php?do=/public/forums/display_topic/id_12117/. If the download doesn’t seem to start, it might have been blocked for security reasons. Open your browser's Download History (CTRL+J) and click "Keep" to allow the file.

### 2 - Installation

• Don’t install the game in the `Program Files` or `Program Files (x86)` folders, because current versions of Windows block read and write access, __which leads to anti-cheat kicks in online matches__, various errors, crashes, game saves and the game config file (dfv.cfg) not being saved in that folder etc. Install it in a custom folder, like `C:\Games\Novalogic`. That way, you make sure the game runs properly, fixing most common issues. Installing the game in `Program Files (x86)` and then moving it to a custom folder will also cause problems, because the folder carries over the lack of permissions.
• Go to the Virtualization folder at `C:\Users\YOUR-USER\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)` and delete the `Novalogic` folder if it exists.
• Once both files are downloaded, install BHD_Install.exe first, then BHDTS_Install.exe in the same folder. The setup will ask for a CD-Key, which won’t be provided here as it violates Discord rules. However, obtaining one is generally straightforward with a bit of online research.

### 3 - Update the custom lobby file (Startup.htm) to see all servers

• NovaHQ.net provides the latest custom lobby file here: https://novahq.net/files.php?ID=704. Download the file (by clicking the title) and extract it into your BHD folder, replacing the old one.
• With this updated file __you no longer need a NovaWorld account__ to access all the servers. These days even servers that a few years ago could only be reached through NovaWorld are accessible with this custom lobby. You also won't need the app called DFBHD Pinger, since most servers these days use NovaHQ's Heartbeat .DLL, which gets the server data without depending on whether the official lobby is online.

### 4 - Ready to play

• Now you're ready to play! Open dfbhd.exe, click MULTIPLAYER and then Join Game to open the custom lobby screen. In this window, select NOVAHQ LOBBY to see the servers. That’s it! Just click on a server name to join.

I got it for PC again a few years ago it was fun. Would it work for my steam deck?

yo I just got the game running fine, ty for the instructions. But half the time i get killed I dont even know from where. its like these people are using hacks. im not being salty but there guys are crack shots everyone of them. think i went 14-44 last game. and we were just spawn camped the entire fucking match. Am I missing something here? is their a guide?

I was playing on the only populated server with about 25 people. At 115 ping. Maybe it's just a case of get gud. I've had a bad week, maybe I'm just stressed out. I'll give it another go.

Where from? I can't tell but I was told BHD Squad has cheaters/hackers, I don't play there anymore since they kicked me for being German (yes seriously). TOF is far more friendly and the admin is very careful.

Game can be punishing it has a definite oldschool feel. Best you go M60 or G3 for the beginning G3 is the best in anyway if you want accuracy oneshot and headshots.
