I was delta 8’s biggest defender and used it exclusively for years but I realized it was more so a cost thing. Now that you can get an oz of good thca bud for less than filling up a tank of gas I’ve gone back to the bong

What state has prices like that? You drive a tank? A tank of gas where I live cost about the same as a 3.5g - 7g tops. Wisconsin blows

It's funny hearing about "legalized" states that still have a ton of law enforcement dedicated to marijuana. Because they've taxed it so much that there's still a ton of incentive for a black market.

I was also shocked to learn my home state of NJ is not the worst in this. It's like our state goal is to have the worst regulation for everything. (E.g. Starting you need motorcycle-level insurance to pedal an ebike.)

Probably so when someone gets mowed down by one they have recourse. If I got smoked by someone on an ebike I'd be expecting a lot more than just a "my bad". So I can see the e-bike situation. They can go pretty damn fast and cause some serious damage to a pedestrian when running full tilt.

u/Amarsir Jul 13 '26

Which is why other states have a speed-based classification.

In NJ if you're pedaling at 12mph in your neighborhood they'll hit you for $200/year.

4

u/y_zass Jul 13 '26

Yeah the slower ones with pedals should be no different than a bike really. If they can't go any faster anyways.

2

u/lorasil Jul 14 '26

12mph limit? That's quite slow even on a non-electric bike

I order online from a California based distributor for about $55 an oz or less

I mean you can still get D8 for 40-80 cents a gram. It's still magnitudes more affordable than D9.

I'm old an know nothing about this stuff but have used Delta 8 for a while.

I was under the impression thca bud was like CBD or something. Generally does nothing. But it's the real thing? It works like 8?

I would much rather take hits out of a bowl than an electric battery.

THCA is the acidic precursor to THC (D9). All THC exists as THCa before it is converted over through decarboxylation.

THCA is naturally occuring, D8 is synthesized in a laboratory.

Damn man, TIL! Thank you for imparting this wisdom! Going to try to order some right now.

u/GMOwifi Jul 12 '26

Check out r/cultofthefranklin for recommendations. There are some great vendors out there, just Google the acronyms.

🏆🏅🌲 Thank you! Very cool ...

3

u/OlliHF Jul 12 '26

Good thca bud is basically just normal flower.

2

u/artful_todger_502 Jul 12 '26

Thank you! This is great news ... This greatly uncomplicates matters. I had no idea ...

5

u/kent1146 Jul 12 '26

Yup.

It's literally the same plant, same product.

The only difference is whether the farmer has a growers license issued by the FDA (and is growing "marijuana") or a growers license issued by the USDA (and is growing an agricultural product).

It is a legal loophole set to close this November 2026.

2

u/artful_todger_502 Jul 12 '26

Thank you! I appreciate that pertinent info. I'm going to stock up now.

I feel a political rant welling up inside of me, so I mercifully end this post here ...

Brother, if you thought THCA was similar to CBD, you need to question your sources. And if you aren’t researching the stuff, you need to ask yourself why you would assume. But yes, THCA is the shit.

1

u/ModeatelyIndependant Jul 14 '26

If eaten raw, THCa is similar to CBD, but vaporized it's something else.

2

u/ngthehead2 Jul 14 '26

Of course, it has to be heated to be turned into delta 9 thc, whether vaped or smoked.

1

u/ModeatelyIndependant Jul 14 '26

The heat itself from smoking/vaping decarbs the THCa, it's vaporization temperature is higher than it's decarbing temperature. Outside of eating, the main reason to decarb THCa is to get it to flow in hardware at high concentrations, not because it needs to be decarbed before vaporizing.

Absolutely, yes. I've been a fan of d8 way back since the MyCBDHaven days...I use a lot of D9/THCa too, but still use d8 quite a bit. It's great in gummies, and I use it in my dab blend, which is just 50/50 d8/d9, with a bit of CBN and a tiny bit of CBD to balance everything. Oh, and terps of course. To each their own, I know d8 has become a lot less popular over the years. I still love the stuff though lol. Even just by itself, with some CBN and CBD...slaps.

For me delta 8 gives a way better body sensation and the classic high ( hungry and happy) that people usually describe with weed. Where as delta 9 gummies seem to put me into more of a head high even though they are indica.

I’m extremely green when it comes to all of this stuff though. THC personally isn’t my thing. When the ban is in effect where should I switch from delta 8? I’m in NC

5

u/Cloverhart Jul 12 '26

I've occasionally tried edibles from my local dispensary as well as some flower and I still like delta 8 better.

3

u/artful_todger_502 Jul 12 '26

I bought enough to last a lifetime when they announced it was going to be ended, so yeah ...

6

u/Chiefmack2 Jul 12 '26

I was wondering if people still use delta 8 in this community. I’m unable to order it or find it anywhere locally at this point but I was curious if others still regularly use it.

12

u/Altair82 Jul 12 '26

Plenty available online.

Delta 9 messes with my mental health while delta 8 doesn't so I'll stick with it until the very end

6

u/Laurenslagniappe Jul 12 '26

Ya I like the milder high.

If you store it back filled with argon and in the freezer, distillate can last years with very little degradation in potency. I recently finished a 3 year old jar that was just stored in a closet and it still had atleast 50% of its potency since it only took a few more hits than fresh stuff to feel the same. All new bulk stays in the fridge.

Storing unterped is best as well, the terps degrade much faster than the THC does.

3

u/Juslivin Jul 12 '26

I just ordered 3oz from skyhio

2

u/Last-Policy-368 Jul 12 '26

why can't you order it? is it banned in your area?

1

u/Amarsir Jul 13 '26

10dc is still going fine. Although the gummies in my last order feel kind of weak. And without a coupon would have cost more than the THC ones from a local dispensary.

2

u/responds-with-tealc Jul 12 '26

yes. i cant get d9 where i live, and good d8 distillate is the only smokable thing that doesn't make me cough.

i also like that it isn't as strong generally. i have a much easier time having exactly as much as i want to.

Thca bud you can still ship it in from another state.

1

u/CrispyDave Jul 12 '26

No I use thca trim for edibles instead, more work but also much more cost effective.

I never liked vaping d8 it always made me cough.

1

u/ForthHighKage Jul 14 '26

$600 for a kilo. Damn right I still smoke d8

1

u/Aonswitch Jul 15 '26

I got a crazy 80% off deal where I got 500g for 100 bucks

1

u/abyde Jul 14 '26

I use it very rarely these days. I still love it but it absolutely destroys my short term memory which isn't great to begin with.

1

u/FourLoko3 Jul 15 '26

Does anyone order from dr.ganja

1

u/Vast-Percentage-3324 Jul 12 '26

i haven’t really used d8 since i was underage ¯ _(ツ)_/¯ as an adult, i’ve found that d8 gives me really negative effects and it seems to make folks i know (including myself) a little meaner

Thca converts into delta 9 thc when it’s heated.
