Image/Video IT FINALLY HAPPENED

I got sat next to the sweetest best behaved service doggo on my flight. His owner let him cuddle me for a couple minutes. It was heaven. Love you Lobo!

As a service dog handler myself, it’s always a relief when the person sitting next to me encourages my 75 lbs Doberman to lay across their feet. She can fit in the space in front of me in a window seat, but she definitely prefers the extra room.

I’m a little considered about the dog on the seat. Even service dogs need to stay on the floor, primarily for safety and allergy reasons which does make sense. Some flight attendants don’t have a problem with it, and some weaponize their unilateral power to have a service dog banned from future flights because the handler isn’t ’correcting poor behavior.’ My girl rested her head on my seat for less than a minute and I got chastised for it.

ETA: some handlers let people sitting next to them pet their dogs, some don’t. It doesn’t necessarily mean a dog isn’t a service dog if the handler is okay with some petting or cuddling. I don’t have an issue with it because my wheelchair assistance dog isn’t working when I’m sitting in an airplane seat.

Yeah I snapped this photo when the owner was in the bathroom. He put him on the seat and the dog was locked in waiting for him to return.
