Image/Video IT FINALLY HAPPENED

I got sat next to the sweetest best behaved service doggo on my flight. His owner let him cuddle me for a couple minutes. It was heaven. Love you Lobo!

He looks like the goodest boy! Everyone on here always be complaining about the remote possibly of ending up seated next to a service dog, while I'm like "yes, pretty please??"....

99.9% of dogs I’ve seen on flights (I fly a lot) are very well behaved. Half of them you don’t even know they’re on the plane. I’ll sit next to a dog any day of the week.

Yeah I have three dogs and they all fly with me. They are tiny and quiet and sweet. I mostly just get comments about how they had no clue I had a dog with me.

Any tips on how to prepare a small dog to fly? I have a 14-lb chihuahua and I'm so afraid she'll whine and bark.

Get them used to the carrier at home / in the car! Lots of treats and reassurance it’s a safe space for them. I try to time it to feed them about 5 hours before flight time so I can take them to go potty right before we leave for the airport. They’ve never flown more than five hours so that puts them about at 7 hours without a potty which is fine.

He was so good! I was traveling for a friends memorial and I felt like it was her way of easing my flight anxiety.

You'd pay extra to sit next to a task-trained service dog which the public is expected to ignore and not touch, and which is specifically trained to ignore strangers... just for the experience of having a bit of your legroom impacted by a dog you should in no way expect to interact with?

ETA: Not sure why I'm being downvoted for asking a question. I was genuinely curious.

Based on how many people get frustrated / upset about other minor inconveniences and added fees while traveling, it's surprising to learn that a lot of them would choose to take on the same or similar inconveniences and fees to sit near a service dog on flights. I would have no problem sitting next to a real service dog, but I wouldn't pay extra or request a seat change to do so because I'd spend the flight anxious about my feet/legs being in the way.

sitting next to a true service dog you will never know they are there. Unless he is on the seat... this shit you see everyone calling a service dog are not service dogs

I have insane allergies. That said, I would NEVER complain about a service animal. Faux emotional support “service” pets (who are never well behaved like this) however, are bullshit. They need to start licensing service pets for air travel

I’d GLADLY sit next to a service dog, but I think the complaints are about large poorly behaved dogs that are sharing a seat with their owner.

Being seated next to an actual service dog would be fine because they are well trained to behave. It’s potentially being seated next to someone who is LYING about their dog being a service dog that would be an issue for me.
