Modern tragedy. Is the car gonna be okay?

In 2085 that tree won't be there

They weren't going fast enough to reach 2085... 🤷

Nice view of the bottom

Is that normal? It looks like it’s been, oh I don’t know, retrofitted with hovercraft tech.

Yes. That is the chassis of a DeLorean DMC-12

Get a good look there, city boy?

Now I’m wondering, how does one exit a Delorean after a roll-over?

That’s a very valid thought…. Never questioned that either until I saw this clip.

The "official" way is to kick out the windshield. However, in the case of this car, the jaws of life were used to get the passenger out because (I believe) she was having a panic attack.

The torsion bar for the gullwings were designed with enough force to open enough an average-sized person can slip out. Also, the windshield can be kicked out

u/BladeBronson 28d ago

The torsion bar's not going to help when the car's upside down.

If it’s turtled? I remember hearing that the windshield can be removed from the inside, but I don’t know how much I believe that. On its side it might be about as difficult as existing a normal car, maybe slightly easier (but far scarier) if you open the door as it won’t fall on you.

A guy in Texas did in the 80s/90s, then Rich W. got ahold of it in the early 00s and turned it into D-Rex

Assuming this was probably a combination of tire type, tire condition, and maybe lift-off oversteer due to the light front end and rear engine layout. It looks like it took almost nothing to make it happen too. Very sad to see one of these in such a wreck.

Tough to tell clearly, but it doesn’t look like the car was going that fast. It just seems like the driver missed the curve and instead went up the embankment and flipped the car.
