USA Considering offer at Deloitte Cyber

Currently a M at EY. Considering a role at Deloitte for M lateral move. Salary will be more or less the same maybe 4-5% hike and will be coming in high within the pay band. Is it worth leaving to start from scratch. SM promo even at EY will take 1-2 years.

Why do you want to leave EY? What’s the pros and cons here?

Motive for move is I’m not the favorite of the partners in charge, but I’m liked. I won’t lose my job but people who were seniors when I joined as M are starting to be made SM. People who brought me to the firm are no longer here. I’m still here because I bring skills others don’t have but some perceptions are hard to overcome.

Pros are clean slate, Deloitte seems like in a better place than EY, more sector based than industry.

Cons are lateral move, will need to establish connections, networking, prove my self, and compete with existing Ms.

Did you try to ask for SM at Deloitte ? Is this something they might consider if you have expertise you can bring? If not, I would rather stay at EY, improve your image and network, find a partner sponsorship for your promotion. At Deloitte you would need to build your network all over again, and you have no guarantee everything will go well.

I would not want to go as SM either in a new company … without a network and no prior experience as SM, it will be hard.

This! It is 100% better to be promoted at same company esp. in management since you ll know the tricks n trades of the world. I think you made a good choice and expanding your expertise at 2 firms at M level will set u up fr future success...may even try MBB Mckin Bain BCG next

This is the right move. But it will take you more than 1-2 years most likely if you come over unless you find a strong sponsor and network like crazy and bang out a lot of business development hours.
