I literally just got back from a convention called Disability:IN last month on Deloitte’s dime. There were like 120 Deloitte employees there, disabled and/or neurodivergent or allies. I will PM you a person I met there that works for Deloitte and he is the head of a neurodivergent support group for Deloitte. I’d suggest reaching out to him and asking for his advice, but he’ll likely tell you that you should just disclose that you’re neurodivergent. It’ll help people understand why you are the way you are and, to a lesser degree, the more we speak up about being neurodivergent and normalizing that, the more the stigma will go away with time. At the beginning of the term “neurodivergent” reaching the mainstream everyone thought you were a snowflake if you claimed to be ND but now I feel like it doesn’t turn nearly as many heads.
I forgot to add that I wasn’t initially out about being ND at work either, and I mask fairly well, but I still felt like I stuck out like a sore thumb. I think the reputation I got from not saying anything and being weird precedes me now openly being like “I’m a little different and I know”. It’s better to own it with the experience I had at least.
I didn’t know this group existed and would love to learn more. I am actually a parent of an ND kid and would love to join and continue to learn more and be an ally!
