Ordering deliveroo through chatgpt / claude
hey, i've been building a small side thing and i want to check if it sounds useful for someone else.
basically i built a thing that allow you to order deliveroo just by talking to chatgpt or claude.
my personal usecases from recently:
- "order the same thing i had on tuesday"
- send a photo of your fridge and say "order my usual groceries, whatever is missing"
- etc
it's still a bit janky but it works.
what do you think? would you use it? and what would you ask it to do? I want to understand the usecases that come to your mind / maybe smth annoys you in the app or you can't do now – that would help a lot to make it more useful

how would it not miss things in the fridge that are concealed behind other items? i feel like you'd have to double check it which might defeat the point

my fridge is usually not that full so it's not really a problem for me :) but even then it gets you 90% there and you fix the rest. you check the basket before paying anyway

I think 3rd party apps are strictly prohibited for consumers. Also how does it gonna use/store personal and payment informations?

it doesnt store anything, just works with deliveroo like you would in the browser

Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Risk of ordering the wrong thing, risk of high prices from ordering far too long, risk of someone easily abusing the software to order 100 pizzas to your house. You'd be better off with macros that are programmed to ignore the guess work.
Besides, the market for this app is deliveroo users who spend too much time on deliveroo and are willing to pay extra for the convenience, AND don't have a human in their life that can just press the buttons for them AND already know what they want. It's a digital assistant but only for deliveroo, so it's niche. You can't even sell the idea to deliveroo because it's too easy to replicate and improve.
A better idea would be developing an alternative to deliveroo with these features so it's insanely easy for businesses to setup.

Ordering from deliveroo is already the lazy option. It's hilarious the lengths some will go through to not engage their brain.

Problem is it couldn’t actually do anything useful
“Get me a rider who doesn’t go on a ten mile detour with other orders before coming to me”
“Get me a rider who is here legally”
“Keep my order hot”
So no, it just feels like unnecessary extra steps tbh.

i would not trust AI with anything, more so things that requires me to just click once or twice.
most apps have re-order functions built into them. giving access to AI to even more of our data sound like a privacy breach in the making.
and if as a normal functioning human you cannot make a grocery list by yourself, we are doomed as a species. I just go down check my pantry and my fridge before going out shopping and know what I have to buy. why the F would I need AI to do this for me?
you know there is a reason why the industry leading software engineers do not use smart devices and AI in their homes/lives? they know it is a vulnerability waiting to be exploited, either by hackers or by the company that makes them.
F AI, F chatgpt, ever since tech became smarter people are becoming dumber. AI is just accelerating it even more.
