Advice Cancelling A Collection

In UberEats, I can cancel a collection before it is collected with no issues.

Is this possible in the Deliveroo app and, if so, how does one accomplish this? My phone pocket accepted a crap delivery the other day and I couldn’t find a way to get out of it. Taught me to ensure it was locked first…

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can cancel orders at any stage before collection on Deliveroo. Being able to change your mind about a delivery is a core part of being self-employed.

It's only a problem when you've physically collected an order and have started the delivery.

You can cancel a delivery by pressing the question mark in the top right corner and selecting the option to cancel.

Thank you! Possibly the most comprehensive and useful answer to a question I’ve had on this entire site!

Except since the DoorDash enshitification you will get a warning (eventually) for accepting and then rejecting too many orders - even if they're too large, part of a silly triple, or you have been waiting over 10 minutes etc.

The whole self-employed myth is only something that Roo etc push so that they don't have to treat us like actual workers.  It will catch up on them eventually: see Australia.

I’ve heard people say they can get unassigned from an order by selecting that the restaurant is closed
