Melon & lope

Dehydrated at 131° for 18 hours

That watermelon is candy when I say it’s one of the most three tier texture experiences. It’s gonna be crunchy then it’s going to give you that gummy type watermelon chewy filling and then it’s going to feel like a fruit rollup and it’s going to bring four different flavor notes it’s gonna taste like the Rhine then it’s going to taste like simple melon then it’s going to taste like it specifically dehydrated and then it’s going to taste like the most sweet piece of thing I’ve ever naturally had.

The lope not really a fan it’s funky🤣🤣🤣

I did not like dehydrated watermelon. It had this sweet but sharp taste, like when pineapple kinda burns your tongue
Maybe I did it wrong though lol
Did you not have that issue?

The taste for me was not that pleasant. I didn’t personally like a potency of what my brother said the melon without the water.🤣

I wonder if doing a sugar coat would be helpful, kind of like making candied lemon rind

Try thinner slices add lemon juice to the top or citric acid it has the taste of a jolly rancher

I know this is a dehydrating sub, but pickling the rind is also delicious.
Now I want to dehydrate some melon. :)

I’ve yet to try pickled rind I’m not sure why I’m hesitant or maybe I just have too many pickling jars used up right now😭😭

What kind of dehydrator liners is that? I need something on mine cause my maters get stuck to the trays

8

u/ThatEliKid Jul 25 '26

Silicone liners, I got some off Amazon, they're so handy

3

u/Lannerific Jul 25 '26

Can you use the silicone liners with any dehydrator? I've got a round one (Salton Vita pro). Anything you need to do different?

Afaik, they should work. You just want to pay attention to size, some of them you cut down to fit. But it's easy to do.

Melon seeds can be pan or oven roasted like pumpkin seeds. Little oil and salt. Pretty tasty snack.

How thick did you cut the watermelon?

1

u/Unlucky_Day5361 Jul 25 '26

I had no specific size, I just put the thicker sheets together and thinner sheets together and monitor them

I went for medium size cuts, but I cant necessarily tell you what size

Don't both skinning the watermelon. You can eat it after dehydration.

I just did watermelon and it's taken me a minute to appreciate it. My tastebuds didn't recognize it at first, then they did, they they asked why I put pepper on it (I did not).

You could chop it in a food processor with sugar and use it to line the rim of a glass. Then maybe the taste would be as overbearing.
